Vinita community reacts to theme park and resort announcement

There's a new talk of the town throughout much of northeast Oklahoma, one that will likely change the city of Vinita itself for decades to come, according to Hometown Real Estate's Jackie Palma.
"I’m really looking forward to seeing what some investors are going to do, reach down into their pockets," Palma said. "They’ll be making money but they’ll be doing a service to the community. This whole area is going to really grow and develop. It’s going to be wonderful.”

i grew up in vinita, it has beautiful wild lands,wildflowers,people still use horses to get around,farm land where everyone knows each other. the thing is when this happens the cost of living will go through the roof, cool so you got something to do on the weekend but now you wont be able to afford rent,groceries. not to mention bringing that many people in will be a total racket at night,lous noises,bright lights,traffic,strange people in town,no safety. bringing lots of new people in also means bringing in unforeseen danger. there's just a lot people don't care about because they think somehow this will profit them but it wont. remember clear skies and fresh air? say hello to a new hole in the o zone and bright lights at night smog from bumper to bumper traffic,rude tourists.. sounds terrible to me but they'll learn to late i guess

@@candiswilson7873 branson isnt vinita, vinita is a VERY small town, and more jobs don't = a better community. is progress so important that it destroys a small town. sacrifice doesn't work when its not for the common good.

1000 acres theme park development is not much, if that includes visitors parking lots, streets, buildings, hotels, employee housing, etc. Maybe they are just testing to go bigger.
