the best episode of vinland saga for me tbh. the animation, soundtrack, emotions, voice actors, characters, just played such an amazing role and was just very beautifully done. arnheids story was such a journey to witness. so beautiful and yet so heartbreaking. def the character that stood out to me the most this season (besides einar and thorfinn). and ben if you're reading this, the ost played during arnheids death is called destination by yutaka yamada. such an amazing piece and probably my favorite ost in vinland saga

This episode was as it's called a pure PAIN! Watching you get so emotional especially Ben made me cry as well😭 What a masterpiece! The way it all connected to the first season first episodes when Thors was saving that slave to Thorfinn now trying so save Arnheid to his Vinland quote 😭 UGH IT WAS SO REWARDING AND SO EMOTIONAL Thorfinn has truly come a long way I'm so proud of him and his development! He finally understood how revenge begets revenge and him crying on top of Einar is just..MAN THIS IS TOO MUCH I LOVE THIS SHOW😭 Can't wait for you to finish this season I love your reviews as always❤

@@shade0636 overall it’s still not as popular as the ones having a storyline of similar level or some even not as good as this. (JJK Hidden Inventory Arc, not even including the Shibuya Arc, won Anime of the Year award which is voted by the fans; that says something about popularity)

@@Mischievalrous There are plenty of stories better than whatever is most popular at any one time, and I don't think that'll change. The stories that I, and I'm guessing you too, would consider the highest quality are usually ones that require a greater amount of observation and mental investment to fully appreciate. But the average person doesn't care about storytelling all that much. So they prefer stories with less depth and therefore a lower prerequisite for mental investment. Considering these circumstances, I'd say Vinland saga is in a pretty good spot. There are stories even less popular than Vinland Saga, and just as impressive if not more so. Not that it matters all that much though, hope you don't think I'm being argumentative. Just sharing my perspective. :)

@@shade0636 of course, I agree with that. I’d be thrilled for all of those stories to be out in the limelight so everyone can appreciate how good they are, including but not limited to, Vinland Saga.

seeing how you love vinland saga i would love to see you react to monster, i know it always loses on the polls because it is such an old show but it is a timeless masterpiece that will stay with you just like this show

I'm so glad they got the good subs. The more common translation for lines I've seen is "I came from the underworld!" instead of "Helheim" from Thorgil and Einar saying "I... I really really like you!" instead of "love" This translation is so much better and I don't even care if it's more or less accurate lol. "Helheim" is such a cooler line, and Einar saying "like" as if he's a 2nd grader really made me cringe during that otherwise very emotional scene.

This translation is so much better literally the only line it misses is when Gardar is dying and he says "Hjalti will want to grow up and go adventuring. I wont let him" The other translation where he says "Hjalit will want to grow up and be a Viking. I wont let him" is much more impactful.

@@WhizBang817Overall this translation is way better but there is a line in ep 19 in this version where Thorfinn tells Leif "Thanks for caring about me" but he in the manga and in the Netflix subs says "Thanks for caring about someone like me" , I see this version to be more impactful.

There's another, when in this episode Snake finds Ketil to be alive , he says "The soldiers didn't recognise you" in this version, and in the other subs he says "Since you weren't on the horse, the soldiers didn't realise you were the leader".

Vinland Saga, Attack on Titan, and Made in Abyss are all anime that I think are just leaps and bounds better as an anime than they are as manga (not that they are bad manga by any means) because of the unbelievably good OSTs and voice acting.

@@yigitgns0123 I think I picked up the manga either right after season 1 or after the movie. From what I recall (though it's been a while) the most they removed from the manga in season 2 were images of nipples. And given the character designs, I'm perfectly happy with that. I do remember being more disturbed by the manga in some scenes such as the balancing getting Ma, but it's difficult for me to determine if the anime was toned down, or if because I more or less knew what was coming, it didn't hit me as hard.

Could you imagine how they are going to feel about this anime over the next 4 episodes? They are going to have to take 20 minutes after episode 24 because they just realized they watched the best anime they have ever seen.

30:17 This line is also a full circle moment to Ketil's speech in 19.5(if y'all haven't watched it its a good watch), "Might makes right". I love the illustration in the manga here, the anime doesn't do this particular panel justice IMO. The scenes are just as good, I just think the way Canute fills up the page in the manga with his black cloak filling up a third of the page is much more intimidating and effective in the manga. (Page 11 Chapter 92).

I'm pretty sure there will be season 3. First, there's a lot of new characters at the end of season 1. Second, Thorfinn and Floki storyline or "the truth about Thors" it would be wasted if they don't do that. And Third, It's Vinland Saga, at least we need to see them landing or sailing to Vinland.

Vinland Saga is a masterpiece no doubt, but it’s not underrated, its given high ratings by all the fans that watched it, but it’s really under watched, and idk why this amazing show doesn’t get same views as AOT for example

The second season of Vinland Saga is very well done - in some ways this is one of the best anime series ever done - but unlike the first season, I'm not sure I'd want to rewatch it.
