Askeladd was serious about offering that place. You can also see it in how Bjorn reacted: Bjorn was furious, because he knows Askeladd the best. Bjorn is the right hand man, he understands him as much as it´s posibble with someone like Askeladd. And he understood that he was serious and Bjorn couldn´t accept that. He wasn´t ready to follow someone else so he interfered and went for Thorfinn.

I think thors death was well deserve since you cannot escape sin just by being leaving your past after all he killed thousands of people. But the only difference he died as a true warrior with peace on his heart

he just didnt have enough time to repent and repay for everything, but he was on the path to being a true warrior already. Thorfinn rn is carrying out his father's legacy and its so good. So saying the Thors deserves to die is saying that Thorfinn does too and that Einar shouldve choked his ass out in S2EP4
