I like how Vinnie sometimes pushes into a new groove by accenting the first two beats. He plants his flag on it, then builds through it. I also believe that for tempo, he seems dead on better than other drummers. If anything, there's a tasteful, subtle rush.

you're funny. Better than what other drummers at tempo>? And have you put ANY to a metronome?

He is indeed tighter than most other famous drummers. Jonathan "Sugarfoot" Moffett, Pat Mastelotto and Stewart Copeland come to mind. All drummers I enjoy a lot, but they are all noticeably rhytmically sloppy at times. Even Sugarfoot who's "famous" for how tight he is is sometimes really off on his hi-hat work, especially now that he's older. Same with Copeland, who obviously hasn't kept up his chops since the 80's. Mastelotto I saw live with King Crimson a few years ago, and while he did really cool and chaotic things, it was obvious he wasn't as tight as for example Gavin Harrison whom he shared a stage with on that tour. I haven't fully analyzed him, but Dave Weckl also seems really tight. He has a perfect swing to his playing, but that swing is extremely consistent and focused.

When A Customs were still thin and shimmering . Too many warranty claims and Zildjian thickened them up and ruined a fantastic line of cymbals

Yeah, they had good and bad ones. But honestly, these sound clangy and awful compared to the Paistes he plays today.

Vinnie trying to make the track sound cooler than it is. Nice David Garibaldi style groove.

Trying? Everyone takes from the other one...Will Kennedy, Dennis Chambers. Dave Weckl, Omar Hakim,Billy Cobham, Jeff Watts, Philly Jo, Steve Jordan, Carmine, Vinnie Appice, Sid Machine Gun Catlett, Buddy Rich, Tony Royster Jr, Dennis Chambers ,Alex Acuna, JR Robinson...Raymond Pounds, how many great drummers...Lars Ulrich played cars at Cobhams double bass, in the basement, his dads musician friends...Joe Morello...nobody invented , just borrowed, tweaked, polished, slowed or dotted it.

There’s nothing rare about this. If you bought a Zildjian cymbal back in the early 2000’s, they threw in a 15-minute long promotional video of their A-custom line. That’s all this is.
@chriscastellitto Жыл бұрын
Yep agree with you.. It was just a way to save these great videos of Vinnies playing since there's no way to watch on VHS anymore :)
@alexbaum2204 Жыл бұрын
@@chriscastellitto so then why did you put rare in the title?

@@alexbaum2204 well, I dont think that many people have seen those videos unless they bought the full A Custom line.. So definitely not the mainstream Vinnies videos out there
@alexbaum2204 Жыл бұрын
@@chriscastellitto I saw it. I didn’t buy the A-custom line. It was given to me in a Guitar Center after I bought a Zildjian splash cymbal. Not if the A-custom line either.

As a drummer, I find this amazing and beautiful, but definitely not a drum beat to get people on the dance floor.

Vinnie can play like this in his sleep. Yes, great playing, but nothing special. As for the comment comparing cymbals-that comment is load of BS. All the cymbal companies make some great cymbals. You just need to line them up and compare-you should be able to find great one. Whether it's Zildjian, Paiste, Sabian,Meinl ,Istanbul etc.DOSENT MATTER.
