Very nice work Vinnie I liked what you did in this Solo refreshing to hear a less busy Drum Solo than most drummers these days. just laying a nice Groove to start with and mixing up some funky beats and good control over all great singles on the snare also, loved it.

Vinny's the man! Love his style and the way he works that snare.
@generatrix99915 жыл бұрын
... he's earned it, though it is tough being Carmines brother. I meet Vinny at a sound check, my friend introduced us. When he told Vinny I was a drummer, he got a look in his eye like he wanted to kill me, for that first 100th of a second I thought he was going to throw a punch.

Vinny kicks ass!! best heavy drummer ever!!!
@drewper7313 жыл бұрын
For anybody who's saying this solo is too basic or isn't very good, keep in mind that he's playing on his brother's kit during the taping of an instructional video. He probably just sat down and started playing whatever came to him. If he had wanted to play a kickass solo he would've. I got to meet Carmine & Vinnie at a drum clinic way back in 1988.Believe me, both are great drummers.I will agree w/the person who said that Vinnie borrowed a lot from Bonham.All musicians borrow from their heroes.
@braincrisp114 жыл бұрын
The thing about Vinny is that you think his playing sounds "basic" or "easy" then he throws in these crazy quick snare fills or what I call triplet bomb drops. Basic, but at the same time edgy and snappy. That's what makes him such as awesome drummer!

@pachopavan i checked it out, the drumheads on the bass-drums and snare are Aquarian Carmine Appice Signature Series and Aquarian Carmine Appice Snare Drumhead. so, signatures :D
@laauuurrrr14 жыл бұрын
@DemilichFan you mean his brother's throne :D one of Carmine's Slingerland drumkits was leopard-ish, too. i guess his actual DDrum kit is somewhat like that

im not the one to argue i know what i saw but who knows maybe im wrong it still doesnt change the fact that vinnie is a great drummer thanks for uploading this masterpiece and for all you haters id like to see you do better playing nothing but a snare bass hihat and ride
@laauuurrrr15 жыл бұрын
@pachopavan the snare - Aquarian, the bass drum i think it's Remo, because the bass drums are from Carmine Appice's Slingerland kit

@JackMehoff845 of course. i hate arguing too. maybe you're wrong, maybe i'm wrong, who cares? the important thing is he's a great drummer, with or without two bass drums, double pedal, toms, splashes, crashes, a band or more :D thanks for the comments!
@Rizun10113 жыл бұрын
I'd seriously like to see some of the people that comment Vinny sucks because he has no toms or what ever the fuck they say to actually play what he just played perfectly. They probably use a double bass pedal and don't know shit worth of Rudiments, I appreciate all of the drummers/fans that say he is a great drummer because i'd have to agree with them 100%. He's my favourite drummer and i learn from him, he's the original and one of the best Metal/Rock drummers out there today.

Another great drummer - Snare needs a tweaking for that good rock "crack" - Probable Carmine's fail. I do like the silver dot Remo heads for hard rock. I know when I saw Vin with Dio somebody nailed the tuning - sounded awesome every time.

I totally agree with you! Coz, Vinny doesn't use 2 kick drums like his brother.
@laauuurrrr14 жыл бұрын
@JackMehoff845 nope, sorry. i thought that too, but he uses to take his left foot from the hi-hat pedal and puts it down... i saw this in a drum solo from a H&H concert. anyway, the point is: he could, but doesn't use, haha!

He doesn't even use the other bass drum....thats why I love Vinny and other drummers like Nicko Mcbrain because don't they use double bass pedals, they do double bass with one pedal because they know how the drums should be played

I agree with nastygater. ive been playing for almost 20yrs and this is so smoov. he is an amazing drummer. so heavy and smooth at the same time. I prefer him over his brother drumming wise. Carmine is amazing also but different (ie personality wise)
@Audioslave313 жыл бұрын
To those who think Vinny is a bad drummer go listen to Holy diver and Mob rules!! And one more thing: Since monsters musically like Iommi, Butler and Dio chose him to play with them( and they obviously know a lot more than you smartarses that think you know everything about drums) that's got to mean he's really great!! End of story! Oh, and he also played with John Lennon and a little before he joined Sabbath in 1980, Ozzy asked him to play with him but he turned him down.
@frankburdodrums89844 жыл бұрын
Yea you broke big bro's pedal! He's gonna kick you ass. You broke it because you were killing it playing so many consecutive notes heel down. Carmine doesn't do that. He plays both bass drums and mixes it up. You killed it man!!!!
@laauuurrrr15 жыл бұрын
that's right! anyway, he plays at least 15 shows a month, so after all these years of playing, that's a way to practice and to keep (himself) in shape

Never really liked his solos before always preferd Carmine Appice's playing but this is fantastic & They both have Changed from Aquarian Drumheads To Evans Drumheads now

Also, Vinnie has never used a double-pedal or double bass drums. Or at least he didn't use them when I was really into DIO which has been quite a while. I can say I'm 99% positive he didn't use them on Holy Diver, The Last In Line, Sacred Heart, or Dream Evil. After that I stopped buying any new DIO albums. My tastes in music changed. I still break out some old DIO every now and then b/c it rocks!

Vinny Appice at least has some chops. Carmine Appice, his brother, has none. In 1972 - 73 I met Carmine when studying with Joe Cusatis, and listen to Carmine play on a pad, I have to say that a high school drummer in a marching band with little training had better chops then Carmine.

Vinny´s good. They hardly make drummers like this anymore. Ian Paice, Jon Bonham, barrimore Barlow, Phil Collins etc etc really know they way around a snare. Today eveyone´s overdoing the double bass drumming. Get´s boring after a while, and with axis pedals and drum triggers it really isn´t that difficult... Using your imagination and making music with just a snare, that´s difficult..
