One of my favourite little things about this game is that the music is missing the motif that’s Hades’s favourite (because he’s gone, get it?). It’s the sting that plays whenever Zag dies in the original, which also shows up in the title theme. This game reuses part of that title theme, but conspicuously leaves out that part while also having a different death jingle.

Going into the early access I was mentally prepared to hit a lot of unfinished content and to run into a progress wall. I have yet to hit that wall. They were not kidding when they said the early access has more content than Hades 1 in its entirety. It feels less like an early access and more like a victory stretch, where I'm guessing only the last 10% is missing and the rest will get a quality pass over. Actually insane.

Ignoring thumbnail jokes for a moment, I legit forgot this was coming out. I need to finish the first one. I finally beat my first run today, and playing it again reminded me of how great it is. It's one of my favourites of all time, and I still have so much yet to see. This game has some big shoes to fill, but I've plenty of faith in the devs.

To add some context to Starfield sales numbers. Fallout 4 sold 12 million in 24 hours. So Starfield having around 15 million so far is actually terrible. Estimates also put the sales closer to 5 million, which if true is disastrous for such a big release.

Eris has gotta be the biggest issue with the game right now, I had like maybe 30 hours in Hades 1 and never did much more than 2-3 successful runs and have so far felt like the difficulty pacing of 2 is much better yet I'm still getting slammed by Eris basically every run ever since I got past the second boss. It gets highly demotivating to want to start a run when I KNOW shes gonna show up and annihilate my chances at winning. Worst of all it's the most boring possible challenge they could have included, it's not some weird thing you have to work around or change your playstyle for it's just a raw "die in 4 hits asshole" punishment for literally just playing well.

Hades will always be strict, but I think he was only cruel because of the situation. His wife left him, he was managing the underworld alone without her help, and paranoid about war with the Olympians. With everyone together and the Olympians on good terms, I see no reason why he wouldn't be good to both of them now. He is holding Zag in the painting, after all

Another game, another Greek mythos theming where they forget Sirens were birds... they are related to the water nymphs though. I do like the steampunk/mechanical theming and close quarters combat of Oceanus, really cool for a water level.

Most early access games don't release on consoles. It takes a lot of effort to make a game on just one platform. I'd say they're probably gonna wait for the game to be finished before putting in on other systems. Saves a lot of work.
