not to be the "um actually" guy, but i'm gonna be the "um actually" guy- the name of the game Felvidek comes from the actual Hungarian word Felvidék, which about translates to "Upper Hungary" or literally just "Upland". So medieval peasants, in Hungary, would probably at least know that word. i say this not to be annoying, but to learn ya's some things in this here comment section. i found it interesting at least. also, this game is totally dripping with character. i'm so in love with the set pieces an the world already. masterful work and i'll likely be interested in its future development.

wasn't the end of the demo btw, vinny got stuck on a puzzle that he was supposed to solve with his new trench gun. he was a little under halfway through it. also, having completed the demo i think the reason you don't get another gun for so long is that the bandit level is the only one you can't revisit. so if you missed a gun on the ground you could never get it again. after that intro level, every boss you fight gives you a new gun to play with.

The game definitely has potential in terms of the designs and world alone. Reminds me a lot of Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal and I like the story and concepts this game has. Although an almost full hour stuck with a basic sword and peashooter is definitely not a good first impression. Still this game looks pretty fun and hopefully the pacing issues can be fixed in time before the full release of the game. Thanks for another great pre-recorded video Vinny!

@sh0gun___2 күн бұрын
Agreed. The environments and characters are very pretty but it definitely seems to prioritizing aesthetics over substance at the moment. It's one thing to be "slow paced", but an entire demo where there's almost no variation in that pacing or the featured mechanics leaves a lot to be desired. I'll wait for the full release before casting any more judgement, I'm sure there's much more planned.
@Pepman2562 күн бұрын
It seems to be taking an exact opposite approach to Scumhead's previous FPS Metroidvania, Vomitoreum. That game suffered from being too much too quick, where abilities were given out in such abundance you usually only used them in one or two spots before they were forgotten about.
@DolusVulpesКүн бұрын
@@TheCongressman1 even slower paced action games still tend to give you weapons a bit faster than this, with Dark Souls (which the game was clearly inspired by) being a prime example.

Not to be "that guy" but the game does have a decent amount of collectables in the form of the purple upgrade ore. The first level has enough to upgrade your weapon and health at least once each. The second level has even more and introduces health upgrades. Vinny was just bunny-hopping through the levels like Quake and missing all the side paths and treasure chests. If anybody else plays the demo I'd highly recommend taking it at a slower pace and really exploring everything, it'll be both worth your while and also lead to a more satisfying experience.

Poor vin, "there's no checkpoint that I can tell" walks right past a checkpoint. That one is just sitting in the dark corner though, so I'm not surprised. Fair criticisms overall, mostly agree on what could be improved, I just thought it was weird how judgemental you got about the furry character.

I'm gonna be a bit of a hater, ngl. This is an elaborately designed excuse for the dev to show off their epic original fursonas, donut steel. The style of the game itself is cool and technically competent on a visual level, but there's no actual unique gameplay beyond those cool visuals. The sound design leaves a lot to be desired amongst other things. I'd go far enough to say that while the mixture of ideas is superficially unique on first glance, it's really just: Doom engine, Morrowind, Star Wars, and some random furry/anime shit tossed in. The writing is awful. It's trying to be weird and standalone with its worldbuilding and lore, but it all honestly just feels like a more steampunk Morrowind, but instead of there being dark elves, it's all Khajiit and silt striders if silt striders were anthropomorphized. Everything about the 'Strange' is super vague and nothing is made clear, it expects you to dig deep and read everything when it's just kind of a big nothing burger of edge and 'omg sexy dog girl!!!!' at the end. The aesthetic is uneven and kind of just all over the place. Honestly, a lot of it feels like straight up terminally online gooner bait. Vinny commenting on the 'anime girl' doll was only one of the first signs of this, but in a less than an hour long demo, there was that tiger character (that was literally just a talking animal) calling the player character 'prey' which ofc alludes to vore, then the final 'boss' which was, again, just an anthro dog girl with midriff. Everything else aside, this game just overall feels made by someone who watches too much anime. All of the cutscenes are just generic anime slop type 'intense/cinematic' angled shots, there's no real established lore or anything beyond little tiddlywinks of 'weird lol haha funny' stuff amongst several clickthroughs of single-sentence dialogue to go through. It's just a lot of randomly thrown together things that the dev likes slapped together into a semi-cohesive, janky, generic FPS gaming experience. Idk, again it's technically competent and superficially unique but that's the most I can give this game.
@selectionn2 күн бұрын
careful, the comment section will tear you to shreds for uttering a single word of negativity about a game they like. its more dogshit indie slop, undoubtedly. I really wonder how we got to the point of there being just SO many low quality indie games. I dont wanna be that guy, but... I think videogames may have gotten too easy to make. Its letting anyone who has an idea make a videogame, when some ideas just arent good and these people dont understand basic game design philosophy, and the result is a game just not being very good. But these kinds of games get a pass and defended to the death, because it has a smidge of decent art in it, and the list of positives for the game ends there.
@LuigiXHero2 күн бұрын
@@selectionn There's always been hundreds of games coming out and most of them are slop, people just remember the good ones. No one talks about Primal on the PS2, or Ninja Smasher! on the 3DS, and why would they? There's nothing wrong with games being easy to make because it just means people can get into it and get good at it eventually. Kaze's first SM64 hack was complete dumpster fire. Fromsoft's games before dark souls were pretty mid. A lot of the famous older devs nowadays started because c64 was super easy to make games for.
