The most exciting thing to me about these updates is all of this is really just them showing off ideas and lessons they've learned, that they will hopefully utilize in their new game, Light no fire.
@vrabo30262 күн бұрын
They added titanic new planets that are like 100 times bigger than the pre-existing planets in NMS. I don't know how much bigger Light No Fire's planet will be compared to these, but I can easily see the whole NMS community being placed on just one of these planets and having enough room to feel alone, they're impossibly gigantic.

My unwelcome hot take is that they didn't... The lesson they should have learned (as I see it): Make a strong game loop, then back it up with content proportional to the depth of core mechanics. It is still a bunch of disconnected pieces of proof of concepts and ideas and is extremely shallow. Compare to Terraria, Minecraft, etc.

It really is a slow burn sorta game but the quest are essentially unlocking new and creative ways to explore the galaxy. It can be confusing to wrap your head around at first but quest can be completed almost anywhere, once you have a grip of the mechanics, it allows you to dive much deeper and know what's interesting and what's not, it's not for everyone but there is a logic to it's madness 😅

I wouldn't describe your opinion as being controversial. It's totally fine to have. You could make the best game ever made, and someone out there will think it's boring because it's just not their cup of tea, and that's cool too. If you don't enjoy the gameplay loop of gathering resources, building bases and upgrading ships, and exploring random planets, then No Man's Sky will never be fun for you, no matter what they add or do to the game.

Still just using creative mode. Shame Vinny is so terrified of early game, it actually feels worthwhile when you can't just spawn whatever you need. Also he hasn't even done the storymode once. The settlement system, getting a free freighter and making your base on that. The entire overseer questline was darker than expected, and the Atlas main quest and the Anomaly quest, he hasn't even attempted to get to the center of the universe. There is just so much content Vinny is missing out on because it is pointless in Creative mode
