is that true? News top me. Thirunavukarasar and Appar are the ones instrumental in destroying Tamil Jainism

@@dhanabalathunampillai2280 What you tell is 100% True.Thirunavukkarasar and Appar are same. He was aJain Monk for a long period.

@@dhanabalathunampillai2280 can you explain?
@dhanabalathunampillai22804 жыл бұрын
@@empathycompassion6157 Out of 63 Nayanmars we mainly celebrate the four Saivakuravargal (Appar, Sundarar, Thirunavukkarasar, Manickavasagar) only, because these four, Adhisankarar, etc are instrumental in reviewing the Saivam/Hindusim and destroying the Buddisim and Jainisim when they were being hit hardly by the invading Islamic Army. Arasar was a Jain monk before for a long time, he converted to Saivam later. You have to see his conversion to Saivam in two perspectives:

1.It's normal for people at very high level to switch side when their own party is loosing and a new power is emerging. We saw that then, later during Tipu Sultan time, many Brahmins from malabar region converted to Islam to seek higher positions, etc. later during British time too. 2.Kings and many scholars understood that Buddism and Jainism made the kings and the warriors weak and that was the reason they were not able to defend the country/faith from the islamic onslaught, so they were ready to switch back to Saivam/Hindusion. I personally, agree on this.

Funfact :The most common word "TIRU" used by south indian people was derived from the fordmaker of jainism "Tiruthankar".

What is correct "Tamil Jain or Samanam"? Some serious questions needs to be asked here: 1.The coinage "Tamil Jain" became familiar only after BJP/Sang Parivar became powerful in India, in last 20 years, before that i only heard the word "Samanam" Even today, Jainism followers of Tamil Origin never call themselves as "Tamil Jain", they identify themselves as "Samanar" only. 2.Tamils belong to Digambara and the rest/North belong to Svetambara sect. How come rest of whole India followed one sect and Tamils only followed the other sect. 3.All Jaina literature in Tamil Country are in Tamil, there is no hint of any scrips in Northern Languages like Sanscrit, Pali or Kranti. 4.I have a view that both "Samanam/Jaina" and "Buddism" are extended or new version of "Aseevagam" philosophy. Both the founders of these philosophies went to same school in Patna, they were 1st rank, 2nd rank competitors in the class and went towards two philosophies, with somewhat similar basic principles which matches "Aseevagam". So the evolution path might be like Aseevagam to Samanam to Jainism and now because of higher head count, power, etc., the North is trying to reverse/twist the history, as usual, that Jainism came to Tamil Country and Samanam is not original Tamil Religion.

With due respect I just want to illustrate certain thing, 1.) Your misinformation is that path of tamil jain is not followed in rest of india. 2.) Digambara sect of Jains are spread throughout india and from the philosophical point of view Tamil jain( samnnars) are 99 % identical to rest Indian Digambara Jains. 3.) Revered kundkundacharya (eilacharya, Thiruvalluvar) is the highest revered Jain monk in today's Digamabara Jain sect of all India. 4.) Sammanar is a word derived from shraman which is synonym of Jain or Nirgranth. About 2500 years ago the Jains ascetics were called nirgarnth and Shramana but the fordamakers were called Jina or siddha. 5.) You should never get confused with terminology. Assevaham was not a sect but is was the older digambara Nirgrantha shraman religion known as Jainism today. Shwetamabara jains had never stronghold on southern india. I personally believe that Jainism was present in Tamil land since the time of 23 ford maker parshwanath. His disciple was teaching Jainism philosophy in tamil land before the birth of mahveera. Therefore there are few caverns in the vicinity of madurai which were extensively used by Shramans. There is no analogy between Aseevaham and Ajeevaks because the religion was started with makkhali ghoshal who was inhabitant of northern india and his philiosophy got declination after few centuries ago. Samantabhadra, akalank dev, ajjanandi , pavanandi etc were Jain philosophers of early medieval Tamilnadu.

Very True. Samanam and Jainam are not same. Only after Pakthi movement during 9th century A.D. only Samanam merged with Jainam due to that prevailed condition on those days.

Aseev(ajivika) + agam(jain literature) As a north indian swetambar jain makhali goshal was 1st diciple of mahavir he left shraman tradition then started ajivika with same teaching that he learned from mahavir And then he was ashamed on his path because after than he realised karma is true than niyati and died than in sravasti Goshala never entered south india his follwer enter south india and due to their following of jain swetambar agam literature they are called as aseevagam While according to digambar agam literature is completely lost that's why ajivika spread in south india with name aseevagam And in both tradition either swetambar or digambar jainism aka Samanam in south india was started by the son Of our 1st tirthankar Aadinath known as Dravid he started jainism in south india
