1964 thru 1970 the dog tags where metal. When the adventure Team took for front in production they switched too the plastic round tag. Joe was my favorite toy. It was a great childhood!

I found a vintage MOA Vtg Gi Joe on eBay with a decent box and got a great deal from a very kind seller. I initially expected it to be in “rough” condition based on some of the photos(KFG fingers broken off and faded) but when it arrived, I immediately realized that it was in far better condition than anticipated- the uniform was near mint! I had several replacement sets of KFG hands from Cotswold Collectibles in my spares stash bc I had to replace the KFG hands on my Vtg African American Gi Joe so I picked up different spares for future needs. Well, a bit of soap and water, and hot water hands replacement trick made him look worthy of a spot in the collection. Needless to say MOA is one of my favs in my collection now. Never had him as a kid but he’s super cool. I even have his original metal dog tag. That’s a fun experience to have when collecting. Meeting Awesome & Cool people and adding awesomeness your collection. I had to thank the fellow Collector/Seller on EBay many times.

That's very awesome, so cool to hear story's like that instead of the bad deals we hear so much about. Congrats on your Vintage MOA, I got one that's currently sporting the Spy island set from captain cosmos, I did a video on it about a month ago.

My first GI Joe was a pre-Kung Fu Grip Man of Action, and latter I would be given a Kung Fu Grip Man of action. Good times.

I was walking around Walmart when these where available. I had no clue they were out and picked up the Sea Adventure. It was just like the one I got for my birthday in 1974. I’m surprised how much money they are asking now on eBay . I should have picked up a few.

I know, these were 10 bucks at retail, now they usually go for 60-100 on ebay, I really do like them though.

The issue about the head-sculp being modeled on President Kennedy and the other rumor about the head-sculp was based upon 20 Medal of Honor winners was just marketing hype to give more interest in GI Joe.

The truth is that the sculptor just made it look like a young American

I always tease my GI Joe buddies that since Hasbro produced these they should actually be described as a continuation of the line and not a reproduction. However, as my friends point out, Hasbro also considers them reproductions!

That was incredible bro! I had no idea how cool the 60-70s Jokes were until now. Now I wanna open my cobra commander to see if they pulled all the stops with him. Hmmm also one thing I could swore I read was were these the figures that resembled Jimmy Hama the creator or does that harken to the ARAH first wave of joes?
@TheSkullReviews9 жыл бұрын
+Cdog Cdog The figure that Larry Hama face was sculpted on is the 1987 3 3/4 Tunnel Rat, yeah these old Joe were pretty badass figures, very much ahead of their time.
@cdogcdog48149 жыл бұрын
TheSkullReviews That's right. Tunnel Rat with the camo face. I had Tunnel Rat when I was a kid he was like one of the only joes (not cobras. There were bats and crimson troopers ect.) on the pegs. But toy stores where I grew up had a half a isle. Anyways how would I get a original and/or reproduction?
@TheSkullReviews9 жыл бұрын
I would say at this point your best bet is ebay, no one is currently making them, these were only 9.99 when released in 2008, not sure what they cost now.
@cdogcdog48149 жыл бұрын
TheSkullReviews shit. I asked the wrong question. But it doesn't matter because you answered it anyway, i meant to ask how much I can get one for. Though you don't know you said on well.
@TheSkullReviews9 жыл бұрын
I just checked ebay for ya, looks like these figures run about 60 dollars now, not that you can't hunt around to find a better deal, good luck on your hunt;)

@TheToyBoy19787 жыл бұрын
Michael Anderson ... Action Man got gripping hands in 1973 so Gi joe would have got them not long after!
@TheToyBoy19787 жыл бұрын
Vintagecrazy100 i don't get your comment? Action Man got his gripping hands in 73 which is 100% accurate, so being 1st i then went on to say Gi joe Would have probably got them not long after! Besides, palitoy never coined the term "kung fu grip" hasbro did!

I like him but right away the revolver and dog tag look like cheap knockoffs... the uniform, boots and head look good though.
@johnjones49356 жыл бұрын
They really dropped the ball on these. The heads look silly at best and the bodies look like they died 30 years ago. GI Joe zombies... They should have used the Timeless bodies and heads and there are at least a dozen guys out there that can flock them properly. They used the wrong length flocking on these and didn't even bother to mix the colors and made the flocking far too thin. Had these been done properly, they would have sold much better. The accessories and outfits are well done but aside from the African American Adventurer, these are a huge fail.
@TheSkullReviews6 жыл бұрын
I agree on most points, flocking is to thin and I see that now that I'm collecting the vintage figures now, the Black adventurer is the best of the bunch your right, but sales were great on these just due to the amazing 10 dollar price tag, sure the vintage and timeless were better but at those prices they were very much worth it. Thanks very much for watching and commenting:)
@WitchidWitchid6 жыл бұрын
The flocking used to start coming off rather quickly unless you just left them on a shelf and avoided any rought play with them. I had the guy with the beard and for some reason the one I had had weak legs. When I stood him up the legs would start to spread apart under his own weight until it looked as if he was doing the split. I still hame mine around somewhere but the head needs to be rehaired.
@geographyinaction78144 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree. The figures allow people who never collected, or used to have Joe's as kids, the ability to have GI Joe's. I had loads of Joe's and Action Man toys in the 70's and was thrilled to buy all 5 WM figures, the GI Joe Collector Club Talking Commander, and Atomic Man. I did have to clean-up some of the flocking, and tighten the elastic, but I like the chiseled faces, and tans they have. The could have used Timeless or Classic, but there is nothing wrong with these. The prices of vintage Joe's are insane, and despite that, I have a great collection. These toys may have a lesser flocking, but the plastics will last longer, and are made from safer materials. Anyone who collects Joe's has a bit of modelling and art skill, and as I said, you can clean these up. They were cheap to buy, and certainly weren't a fail. Having said all that, yes, they could have been a bit better. I'm not complaining.
