Vintage 1960’s Super Foosball Table - Restoration

This video is about the restoration of a wonderful table football game from the 60s, produced by the Dutch company Homas .
More about the restoration process :
I started the restoration by sanding the metal bars and cleaning the rust , after which I made other handles and end caps on the lathe from POM-C material. Then I continued restoring the wooden parts that made up the frame . Once , there was a logo on a piece of wood, I found this game with only a small part of that logo so I had to make another one with the help of a laser and a piece of aluminum. Once the frame was restored, I started making another playing field because the old one was very worn and uneven. I made a new one from PFL wood . Every word that was written on these pieces of wood and disappeared by sanding in the restoration process, I recreated them paying attention for the old font once they was written . The scoreboard was missing the pawns that I had to make new ones on the lathe . I also made other wooden legs, on the lathe, because this football game arrived without it . I forgot to specify about the players. I managed to restore all the players except one. I had to make another one , also on the lathe , using the copying method. After assembling all the parts, I realized that the sheet on the back of the game was missing , where some things were written about the game, about the company and about the rules of the game , so I made a new one and I glued on the back of the playing field. On that sheet it was also written that this game comes with 2 balls, balls that I didn't have, so I made 2 wooden balls, also on the lathe, using a wonderful technique to make round balls.

This is absolutely amazing, I can't imagine the time and effort that went into this. As a Belgian, having often played these kinds of games, I do have one small complaint about the end of the video ;) It is absolutely forbidden to spin the guys around, you can only make kicking motions. This is really about the only rule of the game, and it is also mentioned on the page you printed (apparently they even think spinning is punishable by penalty!) Also, currently most balls are made of something that looks like cork, they are a bit softer than regular wood, but I don't know if this would have been the case for the model you restored.

Yeah , I know that is forbidden to spin but the rules are made to be breakable 😅😅 I searched this game how it was in original condition and the balls was made from wood and unpainted , and I made it like that . Has more sense to be made by cork , I thought at this during restoration because I thought the ball will hit the paint in some case but works ok until now 😅

In the heat of the game this toy gets often severely beaten. This is the light home version of a football table. In cafés you find the heavier models that can take a beat. Very nice work, as always!

I was thinking that the old cash register was probably one of the biggest pain-in-the-ass challenges but this has almost as many tiny parts. Wow, that bring back some good memories. These was not cheap back in the 60s when I grew up, and it was on my wishlist for my 10th birthday, but didn't got one, because the money was a bit tight at the time. I was of course devastated, because I only got "soft" packets, you know socks, underwear and so on, which sucked on the BIG 10 years birthday - i mean, TWO digits, c'mon! 😅 Then my dad got a new job and twice as much in salary, so at Christmas I got HARD packets, and lo and behold between the packets there were a table füsball game, and I was in the 7th heaven that Christmas! 😍😅 Great job restoring this, and thanks for the trip down memory lane. 👍👍👍😊
