I know it's 2018 but I have like 4 or 6 of these guys put up in a stand still in the box mint condition. I got them from my 19 year old brother when I was 6 and here I am 7 years later being 13 I still have a huge collection of G.I Joe's. =)

Repro boxes are sold on eBay for around $25.00 to $50.00 empty. A vintage box for the Army can go $50.00 to $300.00 depending on year made and condition. Marine boxes cost a little more. Ebay will still be your best bet to find one.

Nice video - ony just saw it. Have you made any further discoveries on box and manual variations? I have seen manuals for late (68) Marines that are lighter green and box bottoms for Sailors and Marines that are significantly lighter than the 64-67 versions. Lighter box bottoms may have come with folded or traditional boxes but always gummy head 68s and 2xR boxes. Any thoughts?
@inspector6262GIJoes2 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen lighter color in later issue 60s boxes but most the folded tab boxes I’ve seen has the white inside bottom box. Ive also seen the lighter color inside box bottoms In the early Adventure team releases also.

@@inspector6262GIJoes That's really interesting - some of the 'senior' collectors I have asked the question of seem to be totally unaware..... also, boxes with date stamps in them. Hasbro were prone to getting the little rubber nimber nads in the wrong place as well ;-) I have owned an early land adventurer with a light green box bottom - always thought it was mixed up, but the top and bottom just matched too well in terms of fit and condition. Many thanks for your answer - appreciated. Nice videos too.

Sorry, that would be little rubber number bands - old date stamp tools

Used to have a blast with these things. I took a bus ride all by myself when I was about 8 years old to buy my third one at a toy store just on the outside of downtown Stamford. My folks never knew, but I made the trip there and back without any issues (it was a different time on planet earth). When I finally got there, the hardest part was choosing which one, and never having seen the "G.I Joe Australian" before, I grabbed it. (it was an awesome edition you never see covered in videos like these). I ended up with a collection of 8 Joe's and just about every related accessory you could imagine (including the Footlocker), although the one dream addition I never did get was the Jeep (TM).

*****Yes, indeed is was a different time Gary. In fact, during summer breaks, we used to tour the landscape on our Schwinn bicycles getting as far as 30 miles away from home, and the only fear we ever felt was our folks finding out. As long as we made it home by 5pm, our excursions were never an issue. Then, after a long day on the road, we had our Joe's to play with!

+Carl Bennett I got my first Joe in '64 or '65 for Christmas. The present wasn't meant for me, my mom was going to give it to a relative, (a girl believe it or not). When mom saw how much I liked it, she said I could have it for my present instead. (I had a great mom). When the foreign soldiers came out a couple years later, it was an easy decision for me which one I wanted. The German, hands down ! I needed an enemy for my Joe's, and besides the German had a beautiful uniform. I later got a Russian too, but that German was always my favorite. I think other kids liked it too, because that German was often sold out.

@@rjwalker6677 great story. I was born in ‘65 so I pretty much had the Adventure Team figures, but older guys would bring their earlier Gi Joes and we all play in a big group and I loved seeing the Action Soldiers and Marines and their accessories and footlockers. We would trade stuff too so I had some older uniforms and such for my joes. I collect all the early joes now and they take me back to a more innocent and carefree time of my life.

I bought a Russian narrow box (figure only) that looks too clean to be original. Do you have any videos on telling the difference between vintage, repro and bootleg sotw boxes?
@inspector6262GIJoes2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a repro to compare it to but most repros I’ve seen didn’t have the cardboard cuts that are raised at the feet to hold the feet stationary.

No disrespect intended, on the contrary I commend you for the knowledge you have gained as a result of collecting. My comment is based on how wonderful these toys were specially on Christmas Day when we opened up our gifts to reveal a crisp brand new in the box Joe. We were children with innocence coming out of our pores and all that mattered was playing with our Gi Joes which gave us endless hours of excitement. Sadly, it’s the “technical breakdowns” such as this that will never replace nor bring back the innocent fun and experience we had with these guys. Today it’s about identifying “numbers” and “letters” and different “textures” etc making this no longer a toy but an antique and “technical relic” not to mention the astronomical prices for an outfit. Sad really.
