VINTAGE 1971 Westinghouse Selectomatic Traction Armstrong Elevators, Tampa Int'l Airport, Tampa, FL

These are some of the MANY AMAZING, VINTAGE Westinghouse Selectomatic Elevators At The Tampa International Airport. These are the Armstrong Elevators. These, along with basically every existing elevator in the airport is Original, with the exception of the controller which was replaced by Schindler back in the Mid 2000's with 500A chimes and a male voice. But the cabs, fixtures, motors, equipment is all still ORIGINAL VINTAGE WESTINGHOUSE!!! These have AE Fixtures and DINNER BELLS!!!! These are probably Tampa's only original Westinghouse Selectomatic Elevators (along with every other elevator in the airport). These do have lobby panels on one of the floors that I recall seeing, but I can't remember which one. Unfortunately, this airport is undergoing a $1 billion dollar renovation which will include Schindler modernizing every elevator to 6400NA and updating the cabs. As you see, 3 of the elevators in this bank were down, but according to someone SeminoleVators emailed, they aren't being modded just yet, and they are just updating the cabs right now first, but within the next few years, they will get new fixtures and equipment, etc. unfortunately. Anyways, I found the voice to be very interesting, and anyways, with that being said, Enjoy some VINTAGE WESTY SELECTIES FROM THE EARLY 70's!!!!
Installed: 1971 (Westinghouse Selectomatic with AE Fixtures)
Modernized: Circa 2000's (Schindler Controller, everything else is untouched however), 2013 (Innovation Lanterns and Chimes On 1-3, everything else untouched including dinner bells on 4-9)
To be Completely Modernized: 2017-2023 (Schindler 6400NA) :(

The airport and these elevators are now 50 years old as of 2021! I was just here today, and I can confirm none of the elevators that serve the terminal and short-term parking have been modded. However, the 9th floor is closed due to construction.

They haven't started yet but they will begin their modernization in September. William sent me the PDF regarding the upcoming modernization plans. Also, I've heard the long term parking is currently in the process of being modded

@@FloridianElevators In that case, I'm glad I got here when I did! Also, the modernization of the four banks of long-term parking elevators is currently about 3/8 complete (each bank of 4 still has two original elevators, one modded, and one in the process of being modded).

So far here in 2020, the bells and fixtures have remained untouched. Only the roof and side panels have been modified.

I love that dinner bell indicator and voice! And like those buttons. And they run like new! unlike KONE that runs like its 200 years old LOL! So these elevators are nice Westinghouse But sadly it’s getting a slap on mod. Which will be done in 2023-2030

Specialty Elevators & UEE's by Technicalboy3000 LOL. Unfortunately, they will be getting modded within the next few years. I'm not sure if they are getting modded just yet at this moment or if they are just getting their fans redone for now, but eventually, Schindler will be modding them to 6400NA. Blame Florida Codes or the fact the airports renovation and expansion is costing $1 billion dollars
