Loved this. Was a kid in the 80's. So wish we could go back.

This is really cool! I loved the "old" look for Tommorowland. So neat, clean, and simple. We've got a few old videos from that time period too.

One of just three videos that shows the RCA Home of Future Living post-show from the Peoplemover (and the oldest).

I MISS THE OLD TOMORROWLAND. THE WATERFALLS ADDED KINETICS. THE WEDWAY PEOPLE MOVER. OMG. FOR SOME REASON I LIVED THIS AND COULD RIDE IT OVER AND OVER.
@npxmnpxm5 жыл бұрын
Wow, the power of nostalgia. I was 9 in 1981 and would have definitely visited WDW and MK that year, probably that month, and possibly that day. And now I'm right back there. Great memories.

This really brings back memories!!! I grew up IN Jacksonville and remember going to Disney World about 4x a year, rode this ever single time. Would love to see Space Mountain from back then too, all those things that were displayed for future homes have all come true now!

I can't thank you enough for sharing your home video with us, I was 19 at the time you took this footage and it's so cool to see how the people mover has changed and see what the upcoming Tron ride area looked before it was built. Thanks again!!!!!!!!

So amazing to see if you had wings from the perspective of peoplemover! I would do anything to have rode the ride
@epaddon8 жыл бұрын
I know it probably would have been too difficult to turn the camera to get a look through the "preview" windows of "If You Had Wings" as it passed through there. It was only during the days of IYHW that you really got outstanding Peoplemover views from above because they designed the ride with an eye toward utilizing the preview window space for a different perspective. With "Dreamflight" and "Buzz Lightyear" that wasn't the case. I did however in the darkness at a couple points catch a brief glimpse of the fireworks from the New Orleans sequence of IYHW that was visible from the third preview window on the left (you wouldn't notice it if you weren't aware it was there). That preview window was permanently closed up when "Dreamflight" came along because its swirling jet engine effect would have been too blinding for Peoplemover riders.
@billycrna4 жыл бұрын
How many of those windows do you remember? I remember 2 on the right and then 1 on the left. I seem to be the only one that remembers that many. LOL
@epaddon3 жыл бұрын
@@billycrna Yes, three windows total. IYHW was literally designed with an understanding of how it could be seen from the Peoplemover and unfortunately neither Dreamflight nor Buzz gave any thought to maximizing the "preview" potential. When you combine that with the fact that upgrades to Space Mountain have practically eliminated good Peoplemover views there, the whole function of the ride has diminished greatly.

Old videos are fun to see, since they provide a unique historical effect, since they are a firsthand view of history. This particular video is fun to see and creates a historical effect, since it is a view of Magic Kingdom in Disney World as it was 37 years ago, in 1981. Seeing how the place has changed and hasn't changed since then is uniquely interesting. That's especially interesting to me, since I am a big fan of Disney World.

VideofromGeorge ah ok. Yeah I have Haunted Mansion from 1990 but it too is dark from what I remember since I haven't seen it in years and it's on camcorder tape. I'd have to bring it Walgreens or something to put it on dvd
