My favorite "footsaver" ride at Disneyland. I'd ride it when my feet were starting to hurt, and never had to stand in line for it, which was a bonus. And riding it at night was even more awesome! You'd look down on the park all lit up in bright and colorful lights below and around you, and the World of Tron seemed more menacing entering it when it was dark outside. I loved it then and I miss it now.

I somehow managed to visit the park 6 times that decade from Colorado and then Texas while living on minimum wage (no way you could do that today!). This is Tomorrowland as I knew and loved it. It has never been the same since it's late 1990's "upgrade."

Jump ahead to last night when I watched Tron and mentioned how fun it would have been to have had a Tron ride. I miss these times. Like others have stated, this ride was a great midday relaxation point. And a good overview of the land, attractions, etc. you could get on or off and different points, get on another ride, or even end your day & get on the monorail to leave. I was born in 1986, in San Diego; & I can recall my parents blessing us with a trip to Disneyland every year, either around Easter, Halloween or Xmas. The excitement at seeing the Matterhorn peak from the freeway can’t be beat. And as I type this it’s just shown up in the video. Uncanny. Lol. Eventually we started staying multiple nights at the Disney Hotel Campground/RV Park when my dad randomly got a tent trailer. *Sigh.* Memories. Funny how attractions like People Mover can bring a flood of thoughts back in people’s minds… now I’m recalling; we would leave at or before sunrise from San Diego, secure our spot at the hotel, & possibly swim for an hour. But for sure we’d then ride the monorail to Magic Kingdom. No later than 1 or 2 pm. We would usually end the day around 6-7, on the People Mover, and get our hands stamped to come back in a few hours. I used to love those repeat visit days. After getting back to the monorail, we had our favorite character dinner at Goofy’s Diner! Lol, Sometimes we’d go to Stromboli’s for a slightly “fancier” meal, where you could also watch the water light show. I don’t know if that Italian place is still there, but it was delicious, I remember. One cool part w the Disneyland Hotel was the various pools & lagoons, surrounded by “sand beaches” and lush tropical plants, that seemed like real natural springs. We were so stoked as kids, to discover they were actually for swimming. A great evening break before round two at the park! We always had our days structured somewhat like this. Provided the monorail WAS up and running, lol. I used to hate how the monorail stations posted a daily sign, stating which attractions would be closed for work that day. Lame! I was under the age of 10, saying “what a buzzkill! Let me get there & find out myself at least…” ummm spoiled kids much?? JK. I most looked forward to the “scary” rides like Matterhorn, splash mtn., thunder mtn., etc. So yes it was a buzzkill as a kid. Haha. Wow I went on a trip down memory lane, god damn. I just loved the hand stamp option, of return visits. I dunno, as a child it was like this Nobel peace prize-winning concept! Ha! That way we could spread out our time at the park, & not feel like we had to see it all in a short timespan.

My experiences with Disneyland as a kid were never all good (cousins getting hurt, sick, whinny, always wanting to stop and get something to eat, rides broke down, breaking down) and I can't stand it now due to overcrowding (just by having a sign that says 6HRS FROM THIS POINT, they have no crowd limit controls - if the city fire marshall ever did his job, the park would get closed daily do to overcrowding during the on season), overpricing and the loss of magic due to corporate control. And yet watching this reminded me of those rare moments that were magic as a kid.

The PeopleMover is the most likely to return. I can't really find any suitable areas for CircleVision to return (unless they rebuild the Magic Eye Theater), the Skyway was closed due to cracks in the rolling battery support in the Matterhorn and lack of ADA compliance (plus people nowadays say it looked tacky), Mission to Mars, unless they update it, won't come back, and America Sings was made for the Bicentennial celebrations and they really needed animatronics for Splash Mountain.

So cool... took me right back to the good old days of Disneyland. The only thing I miss more than the Peoplemover is the Skyway, but both of those simple yet amazing rides will be missed forever.

Thank you very much for sharing your video and taking us old timers back to how Disney looked to us when we were young and how we remember it. Thank you!

Disneyland seriously needs to bring this back. Now it's just an eyesore in Tomorrowland.

I don't think it's eyesore I think it's Disney's forgotten past history! I want them to bring this ride back too!

6:37 Apparently another name for it was the Squeakermover. The lovely sounds of your car slamming around, about to fall apart and drop you over the side.

I rode this as kid at Disneyland, so I don't remember it much. BUT, my wife and I rode the PeopleMover last year a couple of times (summer of 2023 and winter 2023) at the Magic Kingdom, and it was such a chill, give our feet a break/enjoy the sights/take some pics/have some chats/etc, ride, that I can't believe this isn't a thing at Disneyland anymore. What a fantastic change of pace attraction. I love it. Tomorrowland Disneyland (and the park as a whole) needs this ride to bring some kinetic energy to the land AND just another wonderful break from the crowds/lines. C'mon Disney. 16 minute ride where everyone can chill, have a tasty drink, eat some popcorn or a churro and just enjoy the park??? BRING IT BACK!!

Great video! Really make you wish for 25 years ago. Disney world still has it's Peoplemover and it's great. Those crowds back then are a lot better than today. Thanks for the share.

Thanks! I've often wondered if there was "full ride" footage of the Peoplemover. I miss that ride. Mellow and cool. I hope they bring it back in some revised form. The track is still there. (Unless the Rocket Rods created structural damage.)
@MrDisneyfanman10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment, I wish they could bring back the ride too! I think the Rocket Rods did cause some structural damage also the old support beams of the peoplemover are too old for a new Peoplemover, they would need to tare down the old ones and put up new ones, thats lot of Disney money! Heres some of my Peoplemover links you might want to check out.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/nX_Li6mFgK2SeNE kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3bCn6Rpet1krq8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ-4mIWBfbJ-jbM

A long time ago, I used to love the Wedway PeopleMover at Walt Disney World's Tomorrowland. Because of my location, Disneyland at Anaheim, California is my Disney theme park. I never rode the Peoplemover here and I appreciate seeing this video. Thank you It is rumored that Tomorrowland will.undergo a major overhaul in late 2021 or 2022, after they finish Avengers Outpost (Marvel Land) in Disney California Adventureland and a Fantasyland makeover. Disneyland needs to bring some incarnation of the Peoplemover back again giving its wonderful tour of Tomorrowland.

Love this! Even though this Peoplemover is a completely different experience than the one currently operating in WDW, it still served the same purpose. A great way to relax, take a break, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Disneyland.

Nice vid! I loved this ride as a kid and it's kinda sad that it's no longer there. The People Mover/Rocket Rod tracks are still left intact to this day but are unused. Wish Disney would put those tracks to good use and bring back People Mover or something similar to it
