Two initial things… 1. Mud Blaster covered in vintage mud 😎 2. You tools includes a Green Hawks bottle opener 😎😎 Mud bog racing in the sewage ditch…. So that mud is actually 💩 🤢 The Tamiya Sh*t Blaster 😂😂😂😂 Final edit - Great work pal. Never easy filming and working at the same time. Really enjoyed this one dude. These chassis are great… except for that gearbox!

Can't beat a bit of vintage mud mate, eighties mud was the best! 😂 Especially when combined with a bit of sewage..... I can still remember the stench to this day!! Mr Hanky became our channel mascot for a reason ya know!! 💩 As for the GH bottle opener..... I do like to combine hobbies mate, and do enjoy a little bevvy or two whilst wrenching!! 😂 Cheers for the feedback, that was about the best I could do without having access to Taylors iPhone. It was all shot, and edited on my ancient £40 Sony android! 😬 Looking forward to getting it out for a run now..... Just need to twist Taylors arm into coming out and filming. Cheers for stopping by Craig. 😊 👍 👍

Great to hear, cheers buddy. 😊 Another classic vintage saved, and ready to start it's next journey after not being run for well over 30 years! The perfect projects for these cold, dark and wet winter evenings over here in the UK. Hope to get it out soon for its first run, if it ever stops raining of course! Thanks for watching matey. 😊 👍 👍

What a wonderful restoration James. It’s great to see that old rc all nice and clean and ready to take on its old stomping grounds.😊👍 I agree with you on fitting modern electronics. The 1060 and 2.4 ghz radio are the best things that has happened to this hobby. Had one too many accidents and heartbreaks with the old iffy crystals of the 80s.😂

Cheers Sean! Yeah she came up well didn't she?! Especially bearing in mind the years of total abuse that we gave these rigs when we kids! I get warmly nostalgic by a good old manual speed controller, resistor, and a wibbly wobbly to be honest mate. But in reality, I think I'm just looking back through rose tinted glasses! 😂 Over the winter I've been slowly changing my vintage 27MHZ runners over to 2.4.....its amazing how much space I have saved by only needing one transmitter now, not to mention how much money I'm saving in AA batteries! 😂 Got the receiver and 1060 in the mud blaster now, can't wait to take it out for a drive if it ever stops raining! Cheers for watching fella. 😊 👍 👍

Hey Thad! They come highly recommend buddy..... although their gearbox issues are a major ball ache!! I would highly recommend the MIP ball diff if you are planning on putting anything reasonably powerful through them! I run my re re monster beetle on a superstock bz/2s with the MIP diff and it's an absolute joy to drive! The shim in the gearbox hack certainly helps if you are just going to be running a torque or sports tuned though. Thanks for watching fella. 😊 👍 👍

Cheers buddy! I certainly love my Monster Trucks.... that's where the hobby all started for me back in the day. This one had particular sentimental attachment as it was one of the actual original trucks that me and my mates used to run 35 years ago! Glad you thought the presentation was OK, it was a bit of a struggle to be honest! I didn't have access to the usual iPhone that we normally use, so it was all shot and edited on my very old/budget Sony Android, hence the poor picture/video quality. 😯 Looking forward to to seeing yours mate..... certainly a rather different driving experience from RC boats! 😂 Cheers for watching matey. 😊 👍 👍

Cheers Chaz! Definitely worth having a go fella! There's something so rewarding about saving a vintage car. Stripping it all down, cleaning it up, repairing it, hunting down the parts on ebay etc. And seeing it all come together is so cool, right through to taking it out for its first run! 😊 There's lots of bargains to be had out there on ebay..... my advice for a first one would be to pick something that has been re released at some stage. This makes the spare parts a lot easier to find, and cheaper. It's a great way to pass these dark winter nights! Cheers for watching buddy. 😊 👍 👍

It turned our great James! I like you kept the repaired chassis and everything you could all original. It may have dorve me nuts but since it has a story and a close one at that I would have done the same! I did laugh at the end when you stuck the dirty old body on the pristine chassis. Like wearing a tux with your work boots on! LOL! I 100% get why, but it still made me laugh. I am with craig and also got a laugh that the Green Hawks bottle opener seemed to be a primary tool! Again, no judgement mate, just a giggle! If I could I would be doing it just the same! Very well done on the rebuild and I enjoyed it. I loved hearing the stories and past with the truck as well. Those are the special ones in the collection. The shelf queens and the highly desirable ones are cool but the ones with a cool story to go along with it make them so much more priceless! Take care and I would love to see the Manta Ray done as well!
@greenhawksrc6806Күн бұрын
Awesome comment Addam! 🙏 I enjoyed reading that, and it gave me a laugh to.... 😂 and trust me, I needed that after the day I've had today! Yep, putting that body on really did drive me nuts as I'm a perfectionist.... and i got so close to at least cleaning it up a bit. But, whats the point in having two mint shelfer mud blasters?! I think once the chassis has been run a bit the two will blend in and it won't look so odd!! 😂 Obviously the chassis needed a full clean in able to inspect /service/repair it so it will run nice for years to come (I hope!) but the body is purely cosmetic! The bottle opener is an essential part of my tool kit dude, I love to have a few beverages as I wrench..... and in all honesty I probably drink too much which ain't ideal. But, i believe in living for the day, and I find combining those two hobbies is the ideal way to unwind! 🍻 😜 (don't worry, no offence taken at all!) Totally agree on what you say about the stories behind the cars, those are the special ones..... and the nostalgia is half the attraction to this side of the hobby for me. Cheers for the feedback on the Manta Ray,feedback suggests that people are interested, which is cool! The only issue I have with these kinds of videos is we usually use Taylors high end iPhone for the channel. Unfortunately I can't keep borrowing his iPhone every night for weeks on end as I pluck away at the project bit by bit. So I shot and edited this one up on my £40 ancient Sony Xperia android!! Photo and video quality is not great, but it's better than no content at all! Sorry for my rant on your last video, I generally try and avoid getting involved with negativity, but that guys comment really pissed me off! How rude! 😡 Especially that despite the fact that you had been so busy you still went out of your way to get us a video out..... and he wrote that!!!! 🙄🤷♂️ Absolutely no need for it. If you ain't got nothing nice to say then don't say nothing. Bloody key board warriors! 😂 Cheers for watching buddy. 😊 👍 👍👍

Hey Gabriel! 1 minute??? 🤔 Thats got to be some kind of record mate!! 😂 I managed to get 3 or 4 battery packs through each one of mine. Im amazed Tamiya didn't address this issue on the re releases, especially as they attempted to improve the drive shafts by replacing the hex bones with universal joints..... which still fall out! 🙄 Ah the old 'hobby' tissues..... 😬..... they are for wiping my hands when I get covered in lube whilst wenching dude! 😂 As in grease!! 😂 😅 🤣 Cheers for stopping by buddy. 😊 👍 👍

Do love the mud blaster, iv got 2 that i rebuilt a few years ago, both are runners there not in good enough condition really to be shelfers... one of them was sprayed a light blue, kind of like it though, now fitted with the gold chrome wheels, i like it 😂 Have to get them out when the weather improves. Both of them was stick on the stock plastic bushings, iv never seen them so worn out in my life 😂 someone had some fun with them back in the day i reckon, the way it should of been. New upto date electrics fitted they are good runners now 👍🏻 Keep thinking of getting the mip for them like my blackfoot but the cost out weighs it i think, maybe one day though 😎 nice tip, iv seen a kit on ebay for that but its just for a washer or 2 😂 I remember the driveshafts were a bit of a nightmare back in the day as well...
@greenhawksrc6806Күн бұрын
Ah wicked man, the old Mud blaster is a great truck. And, blue works really well, especially with the monster beetle gold rims! And yeah, I could definitely imagine how worn those plastic bushes would have been..... all of our trucks were like that back in the day, sloppy as f**k!! But, bearings used to be so expensive back then..... we are so lucky now at how cheap they have become. The MIP diff is awesome, and the only real solution if you want to put any real power through them. But, the washer/shim trick does seem to work if you're only running a sports tuned or torque tuned. Yep, those old hex bones were really problematic back in the day, they didn't last long at all. However, the re releases do come with modern universal joints which are definitely an improvement.... although they still have a habbit of dropping out when the rear trailing arms are fully extended! These old cars are far from perfect, but they do have so much personality and charm, and are still fun to drive to this day! Cheers for watching fella. 😊 👍 👍

@ 100% mate, dont get me wrong i like all rcs but the old stuff is where its at for me. Iv wanted a falcon for so long now, i kept off buying one because i kept hearing rumours they will re release it but iv just seen the line up for this year and sadly not on there by looks of things. Yeh i remember my 1st ever tamiya was a stadium blitzer, i could never afford to upgrade anything on it but i loved running that thing, went on holiday every year, the tyres were bald, motor was cooked and the batterys where so knackered from the old egg timer "fast charger" it lasted about 5 mins before it done a run away 😂 still i love that thing so had to get another in the same colour my old man sprayed it and now sits on the shelf... i should use it really, that thing was a blast lol
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRCКүн бұрын
@@RCMadUKYes Sir.... Vintage all the way for me! Ah the classic Falcon, delightful!! I've actually bid on a few of those in the past..... but not yet had one in the collection. Im skeptical over a re re to be honest. Theres quite a few 'very popular' but notoriously weak vintage cars that Tamiya seems to have stayed away from re releasing..... Falcon, 959, original Astute, king cab etc. All cars that people are crying out for, but had durability issues back in the day. But, who knows eh? 🤔 Yeah I have fond memories of bald tyres, sloppy bushes, 1200 mah nicads, egg timer chargers, 5 minute run times, and of course chasing your car up the road when the manual speed control stuck in high! 😅 But, times were hard in the eighties, and things were expensive..... we made do with what we had, and loved every minute of it! You didn't replace parts that broke, you learnt to repair things yourself with whatever you had lying around..... and learnt valuable skills without actually realising it! 😅 The stadium Blitzer is an awesome truggy, it handles so well, and is pretty robust..... would be cool to see a video of yours in action mate! We had my mates one racing with us up tescos in one of our very early videos (it may have been one of our early shorts actually?) and it totally wiped the floor with everyone! I do hope we see another re issue of that one at some stage I also fancy the RC 10T.....but it's a little pricey! 😊 👍 👍

I’m just waiting on a bearing set to be delivered and I’m hot to trot!!!, I’ve seen some impressive monsters on KZbin, but I think I’ll keep it stock for a while, people change them so much, they are hardly a Tamiya product anymore. Also when you was explaining about the ORV gear box, I am trying out an aluminium housing with 2mm carbon plates on my Blackfoot, it’s been on it for a year so far, no issues as of yet 🤞
