Gents, these identification videos that you've been producing are my absolute favorites from your channel. There are a lot of Joe collectors out there that are hip to the information you're sharing, but then there are guys like me who have dabble in G.I. Joe for years, but recently Ive been variant curious 😅

I picked up 17 Action Man figures while stationed in the UK in 1985. Only have 4 left due to some ill conceived trades once I got into collecting. All are blonde eagle eye and one is a talking SAS Commander. A neat addition that Hasbro did not have in the Muscle Body is the Sharp Shooter neck, where the head would look up while in a prone position. Pulling the head to hook onto the tab most likely added undo stress to the connecting rubberized piece originally used to hold the head on. Which most likely accelerated the heads falling off. Great video!

6:10 Eagle Eyes were developed by Hasbro, and not adopted to Action Man until 1977 (Per the action man website and Eagle Eye Patent). 1964 style Action Man figures with Eagle Eyes and gripping hands are sometimes referred to as "hybrid figures".

Always awesome reviews guys. Analog Toys did a great history review on Action Man much like the history of GI Joe. If you haven’t seen it, it’s on KZbin

Thanks to the below comments about the Eagle Eye Mechanism being developed first in the US and then carried over to the UK. You are absolutely correct. Is why we welcome feedback on these videos. 🙂

The Blue Pants/"Dynamic Physique" Action Man figures not only have a talker that is different than the one developed for the 1960's line, but the talker chests have 4 screws, and the chest is larger than the standard Dynamic Physique (about 1/2" thicker front to back) or the Life Like/Muscle Body of G.I Joe and Gyperman (a little more than 1/4 inch more thickness front to back)

I picked up several Action Man figures from the British NAAFI when I was in Berlin during 1982, including the space pirate. An Action Man feature from that era was the sniper's head--a ledge on the neck that permitted locking the head in an upright position for prone firing posture.

Another very cool change to the Blue Pants/"Dynamic Physique" bodies from the early 80's was the Sharpshooter Bump or Adam's Apple so the elastic necks would hold the head back and be looking forward while the figure was prone.

Hasbro developed Eagle Eyes. Not Palitoy.

Awesome vid, learned a lot about Action Man. One thing to note as well, is that apparently Palitoy borrowed quite a bit of stock from Hasbro Canada in the startup, and this is evident in the amount of Hasbro Canada stamped figures, along with mixed Palitoy/Hasbro Canada figures. On that note, I’m curious if Palitoy got their molds for production from Canada or USA? The butt on the Palitoy has the same “X” pattern as the Hasbro Canada molds. Looking forward to the Bob Bryn GI JOE book.

The thing about the name action man was that he was a man of action so he could be what ever he wanted but G.I. Joe was a bit militaristic in the name so it was funny seeing them during the adventure period nothing to do with the military but still being called G.I. lol. I guess that was them after they served their service is the united states army

Palitoy made blond haired , blue eyed figures, Hasbro made no blond Joes with blue eyes. Even the German in the Soldiers of The World line had brown colored eyes.

Man...I wish the muscle body figures were more common...newer GI Joe pants don't fit on the earlier bodies...

The whole thing with the Adventure Team in the early '70s was "demilitarizing" G.I. Joe, due to a certain unpopular war of the era, and I think that kinda marked the beginning of the end for the line in the US. Not to say that the AT stuff wasn't any good, but boys love playing soldier, and pay little attention to politics. Meanwhile, it sounds like Palitoy had a better handle on their market, and produced a lot of cool stuff I would've LOVED to have had as a kid in the States. Ah, well. =^[.]^=
