I have acquired a Mennonite Cookbook from 1988 called More with less ... It tickles me to read them recipes.. like Basic rice pudding.. then Company Rice pudding .. there are lots that say "Company" which contain more ingredients to make them special. Makes me smile all the time. Going to try you shortcake this week. Will be giving one to our Pastor for fathers day

You know it makes me sick to my stomach and extremely mad when people get on here and critique Tessie. If your ears were open, and you were reading the recipe she said it was a RECIPE from her Amish background from 1905 handed down to generations. She also added the recipe at the bottom of the video which calls for crisco or lard which I am sure Tessie thought that her subscribers could figure that out!!!!! If you have nothing better to do than attack this channel then you are viewing the wrong channel sister. You make me laugh, you critique someone for no reason. Everything was very understandable. Then you come along, make your incorrect comment about Tessie's video. Whatever your problem is get over it, grow up and move on to groups like yourself trying to pick apart the video. With your stupid, stupid comment, you showed your true colors.

Even the stirring sounds good. I’ll be trying this. I do use milk over mine as well. I like using frozen fruit with milk because it gets a nice icy crust over the fruit from the milk. I eat it for a snack sometimes without cake. Oh, and I always use vanilla even in my water. Prayers, sweet Tessie.

Growing up we made a similiar cake we called plain vanilla cake. We would put fresh blackberries and milk on it and that's what we would have for dinner. We couldn't wait for when blackberries were ready to pick. This brought back great childhood memories for me and can't wait to make it.
