I'm Dutch, so everything with potatoes and cheese is a winner. Our nickname as a Dutchy is 'kaaskop' or 'cheesehead' for obvious reasons, so it is very nice to see that the people in the USA is sharing our love for a certain product :)

Not fair at midnight where I live. Now, I want scalloped potatoes - but NO, I will get ready and go to bed. Good morning everyone. Have a Blessed Monday. I finally got a shower (not enough) and cooler weather, hope it lasts through tomorrow. The veggies were happy to have the water falling on them. And, boy are the zucchini coming. I wanted some big ones and so I thought I was getting one and then I saw two and when I picked them today, there were 3 and I think more than 10 lbs of zucchini to bake and stuff for meal preps. Yes, really busy time of the year for gardeners who put up some food.

I plant zucchini every other year because it's the plant that just keeps on giving. It has it's own section in my recipe book. And after I've snuck it into everything from brownies to meatballs I still end up with jars and jars of dehydrated zucchini. One of my favorite veggies. ❤👍🌱 Have an awesome day @Martha Adams 🌻😊💜👍🌻

@@IndiAcres You are so right! I only have one plant and it is HUGE - one jobe stick :-) So, today is bake day to get them stuffed and put them up for meals You put them in brownies? sounds interesting. I put beets in mine.

My mother-in-law grew up in Lancaster County (or near there), and she introduced me to scalloped potatoes. In the South I remember eating potato salad or mashed potatoes, or potatoes baked with pot roast. That’s the only way we ate potatoes. I never even had French fries until the first McDonald’s opened in Memphis. We had plenty to eat, though, just limited potatoes. Then after I married my husband took me to Lewistown, PA to meet his aunts and their families around 1982. I was able to watch his aunt make scalloped potatoes again. That was one of the favorite trips of our marriage. His grandfather had a dairy farm, their old house was still being lived in, so we got to stay there. Grandpa had passed away, so the dairy was no longer operational. The Amish farms were so beautiful, (maybe they were in Lancaster?). We went to the Amish market one day. Your videos often spark such happy memories for me, dear Tessie.🥰

Awesome video! Love your way of life. It is so hot and muggy here and the garden has mostly done what it is going to do. The peppers and eggplants are starting to produce and the peaches should be ready in a week or so. Ready now to do a major garden and bed clean up and plant another round of field peas and Lima beans and more of the rattlesnake beans. Then a little later all the greens will go in the planters. Your garden always looks beautiful Tessie. Have a great day!

I love scalloped potato's my mom used to make it with ham and top it with cheese. My Grandmother made it too anytime we came to visit. It sure looks great and brings back wonderful memories of the times we had at my Grandmothers place. My mom continued the tradition. I always wondered how you blanch now I know how it's done. That's a lot of potato's to dehydrate. I have to get a dehydrator. Great to store them in jars. I want to start dehydrating soon. I'm up late today myself. I've been busy too in my garden pulling weeds. It's been so hot here too I have to get going early in the morning to do anything or wait till the end of the day. That is great to have a natural privacy fence. I'll look into getting sun chokes for next year. Your garden is doing great you got a lot growing there. I know you are a busy Gal. My garden is much smaller than yours but it keeps me busy every day watering everything it's so dry here. Your Marigolds are doing great I'll have a video up soon. I transplanted a few of them from the front to the back garden. The ones in the pots are doing great while the ones in the ground seem to wilt a little but perk up after the sun goes down. Great video today. Love you my sister:) Blessings to you and Ken:)

30 lbs of potatoes! Yikes! LOL I never peel potatoes because it's difficult for me with my disability...but mostly because there are lots of nutrients in the skins. I can't wait till I get my dehydrator so that I can try this. Love scalloped potatoes! Usually don't use cheese...but have done before. Hubby loves it with spiral ham. Looks delicious with the special Tessie cheese sauce! Can you make potato chips with the dehydrator? Tessie, everyone knows how busy you are, especially this time of year. I really admire you for your great work ethic. Don't worry, your subscribers understand that you can't answer every comment. Thanks for the information on the sunchokes... Think I will try that next year. Love you. TFS 💜

Your scalloped potatoes looked delicious! Thank you for sharing your mom's recipe with us, I am going to save it and use it. Your garden has really grown and looks to be doing so well. Dehydrating the potatoes is an excellent way of preserving your potatoes for later use with minimal storage space. Can't wait until next yr. to see what you think about the Jewish artichokes ... I seen PawPaw had raised them and so does Howie (FFP), I am curious and would like to see what you think and if maybe they would be something that I would like to try to grow.

Oh my those scalloped taters look good 😋 I understand how busy this time of year is. I’ve never had a garden the size of yours because I didn’t have enough land. We moved and I started a small garden last year but wasted my time. The soil needed a lot of work. Worked the soil all winter, and it’s doing great this year😊. I’m working on making it bigger for next year. I hope to have it about the size of yours in a few years. Do you ever can any of your potatoes? I don’t know how to cook with dehydrated food. Something I would have to learn. I hope you have a blessed day and try not to work to much in the heat. The heat is terrible here in South Carolina. Heat index of 103 today 😱

Yum! I just bought a big 5 kg bag of potatoes from the farmer's market, so I will definitely be trying this recipe out! :) Many thanks once again for sharing with us, dear Tessie. BTW, your garden is wonderful, I don't have trouble with deer, but I have trouble with kangaroos, wallabies and possums! Even with a fence around the vege patch, the kangaroos just hop right over it! :D Take care, my friend :)

Good Morning Tessie...Those potatoes look so good!..Do you have a guide line for using the dried spices. For instance celery, how do you know how much to use in cooking since it's so "dried down"? Or for any dehydrated food. How to gauge it?...LOVE the garden tour! It all looks so beautiful to me. And thank you for all of the instruction for so many different plants! Wish I lived near so could swing by for a walking tour.. You are definitely "Blessed To Be A Blessing"..And so you are Tessie....love to you

Miss Tess, I’ve never blanched my potatoes before I scalloped them, lol...I’ll have to try that. It would ensure that they were cooked quite well...those looked really yummy 👍🏻👍🏻your quite a hard worker...you are one people can look at and see the Bible is right, if you don’t work you don’t eat...you have stored up much...bless your little heart❤️❤️❤️

I love your garden Miss Tessie. I am putting in Sunchokes next year. I had no idea what they were. You are so wise and organized. My garden is a mess. I planted squash and it has taken over everything. I planted 36 tomatoes and they are so heavy and tall. I planted 12 cucumbers and they are spreading like crazy. I planted 42 potatoes that need harvested. The corn is 10 feet tall. Whew..........the weeding never stops. Next year I am so doing it all different. LOL I would love to do the herbs like you do. How do you grow tea?

I’ve been growing Sun chokes for a very long time . I do not like the flavor of them and they do you give you gas. But the flower that they produce is so beautiful and it smells like chocolate but you have to put your nose right on it to get the smell it’s a very faint chocolate smell that’s why I keep them in my garden because they’re beautiful
