These models are great ! .... I loved them back then and I love them now. I have over 100 in my collection. They ran better than most makes back then and a lot of modelers don't realize today why. Most modeler's track today is flat on top to be more "scale like" (T rail) but the truth is with a flat top rail that only provides a surface to collect dirt and prevent electrical continuity. "Rapido" track is round on top and has no place for dirt to collect or stay. The dirt is pushed by the wayside and the electricity flows much better ! The surface area between the wheel and the top of the rail is a lot smaller but, much more precise and cleaner. Rapido never made a track cleaning car because, you never needed one ! .... Back in 1966 I saw a layout in the window of a TV repair shop near where I lived and like I said earlier, fell in love, finished building my own layout in 1968 and still run it today ! Great Hobby, Great video, Thanks for posting. ... George

I have put Zimo DCC decoders in these locos and they run extremely well at slow speeds.

After reading the Spookshow review, I'm surprised at the low speed you show off, even if it's kind of jerky (looks like ~5mph at ~110s into video, ~3mph at ~166s,

I could dig out my old 1960's Atlas power pack and find out - I bet it won't go so slow then!

@@nostalgiccameralife Well, yeah, "trainset-brand" packs tend to be poor for that, even in much more recent times... Who made better power packs back in the 1960s?
