I was lucky because when I was 13 years old in 1963 and "discovered" myself, my mother sat me down and showed me a medical book with pictures of an adult male and female. She explained about pubic hair, underarm hair and how a man and woman created a child so I was way ahead of my peers who had no clue. I am now 73 years old and my mother has been gone for 30 years but I am still grateful that I had progressive parents for the time. My dad didn't know how to give me the "talk." I love and miss you mom and dad.

I was born in '49 and my mum sensed that I already knew a thing or two, so instead of telling me, she asked me questions pretending that she didn't know. Dad was pretty useless, having been a prisoner of war. Neither batted an eyelid when I dumped my girlfriend at 16 and went off to live with a pop star but now, at 73 I'm sure that they were anxious and perhaps shocked in those days. Instead of lectures, they just asked me about my week when I went home at weekends. I am sure that, that is how they "kept abreast" of my wellbeing. Wise parents, always leaving the door open.

The comments like "the coach grooming them" are ridiculous. It's the American taboo view of sexuality is why so many people are screwed up today. As boys in the 60's and even in the 70's (speaking for myself), we were never allowed to discuss these things. They were "nasty" and never to be mentioned. If we'd had frank, matter of fact discussions with our parents (or even educators) about these things, I'm sure there wouldn't be this crazy view of sex that we have today in America. I wish my parents would have talked to me more about this, and I wish there had been more resources to study. In contrast, I had a European foreign exchange student back in the early 2000's and even he commented how prudish Americans were about sex. He said in his country, they just didn't see sex the way we do. They were more open about it, and discussed it "like adults". But even today, those powers that be are making sex taboo and dirty. Shouldn't be that way!
@albertmarnell9976 Жыл бұрын
I agree! My mother and her parents were from Hamburg, Germany. My mother came to New York as a small child so she was more Americanized. I could talk to my North German grandmother (Oma) about anything sexual. I could also with my Opa except he was saying homophobic things in 1965 when I was only 10 years old. It really bothered me. My father's parents were from Palermo, Sicily and they were caught up in that Roman Catholic insanity. You could talk to them about money and tomato sauce. I was raised Lutheran. We were more open but still American. I became a full atheist by age 20 in 1975 and in those days even the universities in downstate New York were showing graphic porn film as part of sex education. They showed everything. Today, that probably would not be allowed and Americans will major in Sports Management bullshit because most of them are brainwashed blockheads. This LGBTQ phobia was planned, successful as was this "Grooming Paranoia". I was born here but think more like a European. But they have rocks in their heads too that fit the holes in the heads of people in the United States. They are obsessed with green energy and the rest of that Great Thunberg propaganda. We need more contraception and family planning along with good sources of energy such as smaller vehicles, smaller homes and less wasteful traveling looking for the geographical cure. We take ourselves with us wherever we go. You can not run from the self. Thanks for your comment. I know exactly what you are talking about. Homosexuality was either not discussed or it was vilified by religious kooks. It is a normal variation as are LGBTQ people. We are all sexual variants of one kind or another and this pedophile paranoia has been out of control for the last 3 decades. Most children that are molested are young girls and this is done by their fathers, stepfathers, uncles, brothers and people that know them, not some stranger! Girls are the major victims; not boys...of course they are just as important and many will be gay by nature anyway.

@brandex2011 Жыл бұрын
It's true, though. And that "want" continues through the life of boys and men. It's fairly the whole point to life for us. Sometimes, money and power are a means to get what we "want" and sometimes, money and power supplant the original desire and become the driving force of our lives. Now and then, some of us will find actual true love, and suddenly, we become monogamous and happy with our situation and would not jeopardize it for anything in the world. But more often, being monogamous interferes with the original "want" and prods men to seek or at least consider extramarital situations. Fortunately for me, I found my true love, and would not "stray" for any reason. So, romance is not always a dream...just most often. Not a very satisfying comment, is it? But as a male of the species who has known other males, I can testify that this is true.

I taught sex Ed when I was teaching. More info about different things. Drugs, STD’s hygiene, puberty, child birth. When it came down to it we taught about the mechanics of sex. When it came down to it we did not teach about the most natural thing people do. Masturbate. We laughed about it, but when you think about it, all this new knowledge and then these kids have no clue on what masturbation is. I could imagine the parents reaction if the suggestion was made that masturbation be added to the curriculum. Where I taught it would have been like the sixth seal was broken.
