I remember riding a school bus back in my primary years that sounded almost exactly like this. It was an old GMC. I suspect this English bus was either developed of the same engine and other components, or was designed by coincidence to be virtually identical. Sounds like a Chev stovebolt inline 6, and its accompanying joyously and salubriously noisy gearbox. :)

The Coach is a Bedford OB with a Duple 'Vista' body, the gearbox does not have syncromesh hence the need to double de-clutch.

@davidburnside69 This bus looks like a Bedford. The gearbox sounds are similar to the Guy Arab. Back then bus manufacturers built their own engines and gearboxes.

@davidburnside69 It was a straight-cut gearbox, hence the need to double de-clutch up and down gears, with a pause in between, as at 4.30.

They almost always didn't. These coachwork companies either here in the US or in the UK borrowed from all hands.

Whoa, lovely gearbox whine! :D Does the gearbox have straight-cut gears? What is the gearbox's model? Sounds quite like a ZF or Wilson SCG...
