Just come across this, that Gardner is sounding lovely and the driver is doing a fine job with the gearbox. I notice that even he seemed pleased with his snatch from first to second at the top of the first steep hill . . .

Nice to relive this run, was sat upstairs, just about holding onto a gangway seat by wedging my right foot against the side! Rode down on it on the morning run too, felt sorry for the old engine with such heavy loadings over that route!

Really enjoyable series of uploads. The 5LW is surprisingly gutsy given the terrain and the full load. Interesting to note the slow upward changes and quick changes down. Brought back happy memories hearing that 5 pot throb! Last time I travelled Kingsbridge to Totnes was in the 70s on an SUL4A bus, I think it was WN's 105 route?

Some THC companies wrapped steering wheels in a white strip material wound round and round the wheel. It looks as though this was in place but just coming a bit loose.
