Man, I would have never even considered that Thragtusk pick and it ended up playing such a pivotal role in the deck. Watching LSV cube really demonstrates how there are levels in deckbuilding and understanding the game that set apart the greats

LSV: Casts 2 Ancestral Recalls against an opponent in the same game to absolutely overwhelm them with card advantage. Also LSV: This is kind of a textbook casus on why I don’t really like swords. Love it :)

Surely LSV has explained it before but why does he like to separate creatures and noncreatures when drafting?
@nekrataali3 жыл бұрын
It's just a good way to make sure your deck has actual win conditions. Limited games are won primarily through combat damage. Sure, you may get the occasional Storm deck, but 99% of games end because someone got smacked too many times. Your opponents' decks are the same. As a general rule of thumb, you want around 10+ creatures to make sure you can attack and block effectively. Round 3 Game 2 showed why you want creatures. The opponent couldn't apply pressure nor could they deal with a Thragtusk. Especially when Cube Drafting, it's easy to overlook your creature count when you're playing so many other good cards. This particular LSV deck was light on creatures because he was playing 5 Color Control.

The expected value of that goblin isn't a break even on mana. The effect is still strong as it is card advantage. But it will cost you more mana on average than the original spell's cost/effect ratio
@awxangel67813 жыл бұрын
Just straight up trades mana for card advantage, the spell will be doubled when you manage to win a flip. It just costs more to get there. Nuts with Ancestral.
