My mom got me that Timex melody watch around 1983 as a junior high school graduation gift. I haven't worn it in decades and put some batteries in it last year and it works fine and looks great. I wear it often now.

I'm still missing my multi musical alarm watch. It played I think 10 or more so called tunes. I forgot the name of it years ago but I know my old maths teacher used to love hearing them as it spent many happy hrs locked in her drawer lol. Great vid mate 👍👍

I still have my Timex melody watch that I purchased in 1982 when I was 13. 😳 I dug it out a few months ago and put a new battery in it. Still works perfectly! And that “grille” on the top has nothing to do with the speaker. I dented mine in the 90’s and it popped off. It’s just a thin metal appliqué that I super-glued back on.
@WatchUP69MrRangeman3 жыл бұрын
You mean to say that grill is just for show :((( It really looked like it had vents... well at least it didn't fall off :)) Very impressed it worked, guess you didn't have the battery stored inside... cheers for sharing my friend... I'm still looking for a TIMEX I had which was black with a tinted yellow display, and it had 6 melody alarms... I bought that in 1983/4 and can't remember where that went... but can't find a picture of it today... this was the one I really enjoyed, but there was the 007 melody watches too that were popular at the time, seen a few for sale, and they do like to keep a high price! Cheers once again :))

I enjoyed watching this. You have so much more patience than i did as a kid. These were pretty much throw away when the battery ran out. Looking back the tech is really quite impressive. The thickness is incredible.
@WatchUP69MrRangeman4 жыл бұрын
The thinness you mean... they were throw away watches, apart from the TIMEX... but now very collectable indeed... a good watch in buy and flip to make a few pennies too :)) Cheers for the feedback :)

I had a TIMEX in black with a yellowish display back in the 80's, that had 5 melody alarms, I sold that and got the all silver version on the bracelet as seen in this video... and I still can't find that black version... it was all resin case with resin strap, can't find even a picture! Really brings the memories back, so was nice to relive it all again... the ZEON is the more fragile of the 3, but the animation is really something from the times... I reviewed another melody watch made by Q&Q, have a look at that video, you won't believe the amount it offers for so so little money... cheers for sharing and for the feedback my friend :))

We are at the same period... one of the best times growing up in the 80's... the discoveries seemed to be huge back then, even if it's adding a melody to a watch... now it's too spoilt and all is taken for granted... but don't worry, these melodies are found, just have to a lucky Leprechaun :) Cheers for the feedback my friend... have a great weekend that feels like everyday hey :-P

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman I'm probably imagining this, but did the Timex play happy birthday as one of the melodies? That also reminds me I have a SANYO Radio & Watch model R100P, somewhere in the house!?
@WatchUP69MrRangeman4 жыл бұрын
@@Watch-Crazy HaPpY Birthday was one of them... it was loud and had a yellow tint on the LCD display... think the strap was resin?? But I know it had several melodies and the notes dancing on the display... think it had a timer, stopwatch and duel time... did something else too, that I can't remember. My first watch was a SANYO... my brother got a SEIKO... mine had time and date... his SEIKO had alarms and a backlight, plus it was water resist... I took the module out of mine and just wore the case and bracelet to my local swimming pool to show off... back then a water proof watch was expensive and unusual to see... luckily nobody asked for the time LML :-P Some fond memories back in the 80's... I never noticed G-Shocks till much later, was into CASIO, TIMEX, TEXAS INSTRUMENTS, ACCURIST and always wanted a SEIKO, either digital or diver :) Btw, I am more into quartz :)

@@WatchUP69MrRangeman I'm sure a kid at school had one back in the 80s, if I recollect correctly it also played the James bond theme. Hilarious, the waterproof watch, masterful! One of my friends sons used to cut the headphone cabless off his iPhone headphones so they looked like wireless pods... Lol Thank you for the awesome background! 👍 My passion/addiction started when I was 3, my older sister used to have one of those manual wind Mickey Mouse watches with moving arms, a few years later I took the back off the watch when it stopped working and was mesmerised by the movement. My first watch was a Casio WR (sorry!), that was followed by several calculator, game, data bank, pro trek, basically the more gadgets the better, my father gave me a automatic Zenith when I was 11, he put on weight and it no longer fitted him... My sister bought me a Tag for my 13th... and everywhere we went as a family I would stop at every watch shop window, constantly begging my parents to buy me that watch, by the time I was 15 they made me get a weekend job to save up the money to buy my own watches and things spiralled out of control from their 🤦♂️ I've owned close to 400 watches over the years, possibly more. My preference is hand wound movements.

@@mariojr377 I've had a search around, and can't really find that classic 80's design with modern insides... SEIKO, CASIO and CITIZEN have a vast selection with the retro ani-digi, whereas today it's more modern. CASIO have a good selection with their atomic models with the rounder cases, but am guessing you want more square appeal. But the melody alarm is the side that will be missing. I did a review on a Q&Q melody but was all digital, but maybe they have some more to choose from, but with melody alarms with ani-digi and made today aren't something I see, mind you i'm not looking, so could be a secret treasure somewhere???
