If you want power stay with a 14" bar, no more than that. Fuel lines & most parts are NLA. Echo had molded fuel lines back then & they also made those saws for John Deere. Those were yellow with different model #s.

This is great. I just dug my dad's old 302s out of the back of my mom's garage. He used the heck out of it while I was growing up. It was also the first chainsaw I learned on. It probably hasn't been started in 25 years but is in great condition. I was just starting to plan it's restoration when I found this video.

I bought this exact chainsaw in 1983 I had a 20” Mc Cullough that lasted about a year. No worries because this Echo has done all the work. It has the original parts, everything. It’s unbelievable how much work this tool has accomplished. Just took out a 400 year old oak

I have two. One I purchased new and the other I got off eBay. They sit in my shop collecting dust. I just pulled one out and cleaned it up. I had left old gas in it for the last 6 years. I dumped it out and put some new mix in. It ran on the fifth pull. Every time I had it tuned the mechanic wanted to buy it. You got a really nice one. Thanks for the video.

I have the same model of saw but doesn't run, it also leaks fuel at the center seem. Any suggestions for a fix?
@KainKustomGarage Жыл бұрын
Hmm..check fuel line, maybe it's leaking down to the seam, otherwise might have to split the tank and reseal? Good luck man!

That is sweet, I am working on one now could you show how to replace the fuel line and what size line is it ?, and list any parts suppliers that you use. Thanks.
@KainKustomGarage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah the fuel line is a little funky on these, they all melt and turn into sludge. I used the yellow tygon line, can't remember what size, I went to the local auto parts store that also sells chainsaw stuff. I get most of my other stuff off Ebay. Good luck on the project!

My 302s needs clutch work. This clutch isn't held together by a pin like most modern ones. Any tips on how to remove the clutch in this bad boy? The clutch spins over when I try to unscrew it.

Hi Kain I recently picked up the same saw….almost as clean but it has the 1/4 in. Chain on it. What would be involved in converting to a 3/8 pitch? Would that clutch have to be changed? Thanks for the vid.
@KainKustomGarage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, Mine was already changed to 3/8 but I would think just changing the clutch drum is all that's needed, and bar and chain of course....not sure what part number it would be, maybe look it up on the Interwebs...good luck man!😊

Hi Kain: I enjoyed watching your video; you're very detail oriented!! I have the same model Echo 302S. However my chain oiler fails to pump out oil. I've cleaned out the oil tank and checked the hose screen and it's clean. I removed the brass oiler plunger, o-rings appear to be in good shape and used compressed air to confirm the suction hose and the output port are clear. What do you think is happening? I hope you can help. Thanks
@KainKustomGarage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Buddy! Yeah, I was just looking at mine, I never had the oiler apart but I did notice it has an adjustment knob for oil output on top, I'm wondering if turning this makes any difference, you probably already tried that I'm sure. I have also heard of guys taking diesel fuel or kerosene and flushing the oil tank out with that to try and unclog things. Hopefully this helps....thanks for watching!
@darrellpickering85353 жыл бұрын
Take the oiler assy out turning CCW. Be careful there's o-rings on it. Check for Nick's on the rings, they're NLA. Clean it with WD 40, etc. Now there's a plunger on the bottom of it that works off a cam on the crankshaft. Work that plunger while lubing it with oil. You should see some movement when you do this from the holes. If not clean it again. Again drop oil into the holes & work the plunger again. If you see movement, ok. Screw it carefully back in AFTER you make sure the passages are open. All the way in lightly seated, now back out 1 turn, mark it & put the cap/limiter on. There's a pin next to this, put the limiter on CCW side. From that point on there's the max setting & the min setting. Put oil in the tank, leave the bar off to check it's operation. Run, check for oil & reassemble.
