Iso E Super was originally used in small amounts and mostly in woody compositions. Everything changed in 1988 with "Fahrenheit" (Christian Dior) where it made up a quarter of the formula; this was the first instance of a trend of Iso E Super "overdosing".

Even though the amount is high it is just the right amount not to be as obvious as some other fragrances. It's there as a backbone to lift and smooth out the fragrance, plus give it better performance.

Hey man, I’m 57 and recently got into this hobby - you have become my favourite reviewer, I love the length and depth of your reviews and your authenticity, energy and integrity. I notice you mentioned wanting to get your hands on Van Gils in another vid - did you do that? I recently scored a Perfumers Collection of miniatures with this in it and it is awesome! It was accompanied by Gianfranco Ferre for Man, Leonard PH, and Boss ‘Elegance’ which I can find no reference to but am sure is the original No 1. The only one it contained that I didn’t like was Paco Rabanne Sport, the rest are fabulous!

From this list, I have Rochas Femme parfum de toilette, and it is one of the few great scents for Opera. It's that good ! My Scents Of This Night : Diaghilev and vintage Bel Ami combined. Music Of The Night : Der hölle rache kocht in meinem herzen ( the best aria from Mozart's opera "The magic Flute" when Diana Damrau is the singer). Cheers my bro. ....

I'm glad you mentioned Equipage and Habit Rouge, I love them both. I have the recent formulation of Equipage but it seems to lack the spicy sparkle of the vintage. I have multiple bottles of the vintage that I was able to pick up before the prices became unreasonable. I haven't tried the recent formulation of Habit Rouge EDT but have the EDP and don't like it at all. Luckily, I have quite a few bottles of the vintage EDT and absolutely love it. It's incredible. I may pick up a small bottle of the new formulation to check it out, but the vintage is still reasonably priced. The square bottle is Guerlain's valise bottle, the vintage splash comes in this classic shape. Great great stuff!

Got two bottles of Vintage Habit Rouge from 2007 and 2011, they're way richer than the current square bottle. The smell is still there, but it's like a black and white photocopy of a coloured picture

Growing up my older brother had Fahrenheit 1993-97 and I organically liked it, but he wore it so much and over sprayed it I grew to hate it till about 2018 and I actually tried it on my self and I fell in love with it, I still need to get a bottle, and I have Habit Rouge and its the male version of Shalimar, but I actuly like to wear Shalimar over HR and I want to get a bottle from the 80s or older ( if there is a difference from the modern one ) oh I told you I was binge watching your vids lol

Thanks for including Habit Rouge (of course), I’m a female and I CANNOT STAND the reformulation. The leather note-you’re right, it’s almost nonexistent. Makes me sooo sad. Also-the Fahrenheit, have three versions as well and the OG is still my fave (I’m a petrophile, GIVE ME THE PETROL NOTES)! Wish that I would have found your channel years ago.

Great list. I love the first video too. I love Lauder for men. It's so bitter. Love bitter,sour frags. Also just to add cabochard was butchered for years much like Polo had been butchered for years. But the modern versions of both of those are amazing now too. If you get polo either get vintage or one that's 2019 and up. They did what I call a reformulation redemption. Cabochard too. It's great but don't get one from 6 years ago. Get old old or super new. By the way have you tried cabochard? It's a Bernard Chant. Would love to see a perfumers portfolio on him sometime. And speaking of sour)bitter frags like polo,Lauder for men, Aramis 900,Zino. I'd love to see a bitter/sour frags list one day. Unless I'm the only weirdo that loves bitter sour fragrances. Lol. Another great video! Also the current formulations of Yatagan are amazing I can only imagine what the old stuff smells like m

There were 3 others similar but unboxed and even cheaper but Sold as I procrastinated. 🤔🙄😯☹️🤬 There's also latest version x2 going for $147 opened and $254 sealed for 100ml. There's Vintage Blue Bottle of Hiris 100ml spray I'm thinking of adding at $122. Emel was right, after several disappointments there's a rainbow awaiting. Great stuff love this type of vid ,now gonna pick your brains if I may ,regarding The Jacques Bogart comparison on the vid , I gotta vintage bottle from Etsy seller from Italy a while back and I thought it was like the one you got from Anooj right,however on revisiting it now it is not a Bogart with a signature swipe like on both old and new it says on box and bottle ,a splash edt looks like the clear glass old version but label on both box and bottle say Bogart Eau De Toilette Pour Homme 90 degrees? No ingredients list on either ,distributed by Jacques Bogart Ltd and on a little sticker on base of bottle it says COSMEFAR Italiana Nicolosi -CT weird ,conundrum for sure ?? Now the box and bottle both show age and reference number 0.25.002 .Any light you can shed on this Ram,or indeed anyone in the community would sure be appreciated cheers buddy take care 🙏✌️👍

Thanks for shring your thoughts, about Habit Rouge, the new one is still a great perfume. Unfortunately, it does not hapoen the same with Heritage (another gem); as to my nose is weaker performance as I smell poorer, less brilliant (edt).

@@RamseytheRam tbh, at 45 I’m really just now developing a nose for notes. I’ve always liked certain fragrances and always wore something growing up (dad wore Jovan Musk and I started with Drakkar) so I find that I lean towards those classic cheapies. But I am a bit more discerning these days and want more complexity…spice…warmth…(and the longevity/projection/sillage trifecta of course). I just need to figure out the notes that do/don’t work. Example, Azzaro Pour Homme has a weird gingery melted plastic scent on my skin. Sad story, I know. Meanwhile Givenchy Xeryus makes a good fall scent but goes “sweaty” and foul smelling in heat. Gotta figure out the why of it all, and enjoy the process along the way. In the meantime, todays SOTD is Paco Rabanne’s Pour Homme (vintage).

I live for hunting vintages and yes there's the odd nob that wants crazy prices but they'll never sell and sit there for years on ebay. vintage stores in France, Italy and UEA are still fair and I buy most of my vintages from there, though not easy with brexit and also the odd ebay purchase from someone who doesn't know what they have. Lidge would be on my list, I love the stuff and have 4 bottles, ha... but I also have the current Guerlain l'instant homme edp which is a fantastic reformulation

Guerlain do the best reformulations... it's a good job they do or they'd be totally screwed by relying on their newer stuff 🤦‍♂️ I've recently started hunting and buying the really old accent stuff of their's and others... especially the cuir's and currently bidding on a mini extrait guerlain cuir de russie on a french auction site 🤞 I think in the past it's been a female collecting hobby, and mainly for the pretty crystal bottles, but there's some old treasure in those old bottles... and just like the molinard 1811 circa 1936 with the napoleon's hat for a stopper i won for less than the actual postage, ha. it had suffered from evaporation (common glass stopper issue) but I've managed to revive it by adding perfumers alcohol and it's a stunner.

I have the same bottle of Rochas Femme as Ramsey showed, and the earlier Parfum de Toilette spray. He's right, it's superb, and you get no hint of having made am economical buy, just the reverse. I think it far too rich to be deemed feminine nowadays.

Really appropriate subject. I bought a Tuscany recently that was advertised as “vintage “. It has theTuscany on the side and star on the bottom, no red sticker on the front but just says eau de toilet not per uomo. It’s a splash. Would it really be vintage?

I did not like Lapidus Pour Homme. It did smell like a freshly cleaned urinal. At least that's what I detected. I also tried Lagerfeld which was OK. Dana Canoe was alright. A bit Soapy though. Dana Tabu Vintage now that's a good one. Drakkar Noir is definitely awesome too. I have yet to try ,but on its way - English Leather - Schiaparelli Shocking - Bel A Versaille - Youth-Dew -Animale Animale for Men

Definitely on board with Bogart Signature. It almost beats Loewe's Esencia edt for me. Habit Rouge too. Tuscany is a bit light in the new formulation, but the elements are still there. I originally prefered Azzaro's take on the shaving foam fougere, but eventually caved. Shame that Aramis seems to have stunted their releases. Nothing new from them since 2019. I can imagine that they'll continue to pump out their signature fragrance as long as it makes them money, but have they closed up shop for the time being?

Aramis Aramis is still great although I haven't smelled in years. Also Aramis 900 is still great. But Devin completely took out the Castorium,or at least reduced it. Them I smelled the vintage a month or two ago and it's amazing.

@@RamseytheRam I think mine is from 2000 but I love it. There are so many versions of this fragrance with similar bottles and boxes that it's pretty confusing to figure out what you have though I read that original first vintage is supposed to be excellent.

It's interesting that no one on youtube pronounces Knize correctly. More precisely the brand name is "Kniže", and that Ž is pronounced like "J" in french name Jacques... BTW kniže in czech means prince.

Good series. I just purchased a first vintage of Equipage. My current signature. Hermes classics in present form are very good. 4 bad ones... Kouros, Z-14, paco Rabanne Pour Homme. And a favorite vintage for me, Lauder for Men. Has a great pine and white floral. I would never buy current Lauder for Men. So I will disagree with you on that one Ramsey

Definitely, nowadays Habit Rouge is not the same as the vintage one. I litteraly stoped to wear it a while ago and since then the reformulations get it worse and worse. LVMH destroyed this masterpiece.
