One of the last vehicles I got as a kid and the first vehicle I restored when I started re-collecting Joes as an adult! Although, I just hunted for unbroken parts rather than repairing. I'm honestly surprised that the mount for the missile box was broken. The tabs on the box itself, sure, they're always broken (thrilled to see a fix for those!)...but I've never seen the mount broken and I've had probably 20 or 30 Snow Cat shells pass through my hands during my collecting.
@Gappasaurus3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a few broken the same way at one end or the other. I think when/if the clips on the missile rack break off, it tends to get misaligned so the jagged bit gets caught on the seam between the two halves of the mount, and if the kid then tries to tilt the rack using the dreaded “excessive force”, the leverage just snaps off that end of the front half of the mount 😕

One more thing I noticed about this repair. The slots in the T bar correspond to the fins on the missles the repair makes one of those slots shorter than it should be for when the rack is tilted. You may want to carve out the slot so the fins don't rub.

Great video as always, sir! The Snow Cat was one of my first Joe vehicles (along with the AWE Striker) and my all-time favorite 😁 A tip for removing round multi-tab pegs (like the missile mount), an appropriately-sized socket from a ratchet wrench can squeeze all four tabs inwards at once, making removal a breeze 😎👍🏼 Looking forward to Part 2!

Swapping parts is the simplest method, but often parts are hard to find which is why I try to show repairs if I can.
@g.ijoebear17593 жыл бұрын
Perhaps you are aware of this tip already, if you take acetone and mix with the harder plastic parts from gi joe figures or vehicles (ABS plastics) then you can get a sort of "slurry" mixture which can be used to fill in the repaired/spliced joints and make it quite seamless :) .. i do it all the time. You can even mix different color of ABS plastic with acetone in a small glass jar and get the color shade you need. use small jars with lids to expediate the slurry process, and it will keep for some time. And when it dries up you just add more acetone.

I just wanted to say that you could make pretty quick work of those launcher clips and other clips on the vehicles by using a good pair of needle-nose pliers instead of trying to pry it apart with a flat head screwdriver. You're going to break something bro
