I was the fortunate co-owner of Kranich I BGA 1092. One weekend I took it to Booker (High Wycombe in the UK) and flew for 7 hrs 30 mins just on thermals. I was even more surprised and delighted when I managed 7 hrs 30 mins on the Sunday too. What an aircraft, lovingly restored by Pete Teagle and myself. It flattered your flying because you always outclimbed everything else. Sadly Pete Teagle died peacefully on 28th February 2024 after a long and successful career in the aircraft industry and gliding. He's the only pilot I know who took his dog gliding with him - in the cockpit!
