Oaxaca is in southern Mexico and the rooster is pottery. Oaxaca (pronounced Waa-haa-kaa) is famous for this black pottery. Barro negro is the name of the pottery, distinguished by its color, sheen and unique designs. Oaxaca is one of few Mexican states that still continuance ancestral crafts like this.

The rooster is made in an area that does a lot of black pottery... look it up. The state in Mexico is "wa-ha-ka" and this type of pottery has quite a history! I lived in that state for a few years and have some items made from that pottery.

Place the purse in a zip lock bag and place in the freezer for 48 hours. That usually gets the smell out.

Oaxaca Black Clay Pottery Mexico Rooster Bowl Handmade Folk Art - it's pronounced "waa-HAA-kuh" with the emphasis on the 2nd syllable. Traditionally used as salsa bowls but since some contain lead, it's better to use as a planter or trinket dish and not for food use, especially anything acidic. Red clay or black finish is typical and you can also find some painted in different colors. Value $30-$40.

Love watching all of your videos. I am so happy for you and Roger. Every time I see "Lavender Clothesline, Go Out and Get Whats Yours", I always think she needs to put under neath that "I Did, and His Name is Roger" LOL Also when you are thrifting and something catches my eye and you are walking by it I sit here and say to the tv "go back go back I want to see that red thing" LOL, sometimes when you are thrifting i will say to the tv, OK go find Roger and let's see what he is looking at. LOL I know I sound like a crazy person.

I have a friend who keeps insisting that I should break down my boxes for better storage and I keep saying it doesn't work for me. Hearing someone as organized as you say it, was music to my ears. I tried both and the best solution for me was to break down the boxes, stack them, and put a label on them with their measurements L x W x D. I saved tons of space and I can find the right box much quicker than digging through piles and eye-balling box sizes.

The rooster bowl is a highly collected art form. Pronounced Wa hock in, it is a city in Mexico and famous for the art by the same name. Usually it is a hand carved animal brightly painted. Great video and always good to see you ❤

Karen I just cleaned a vintage Coach leather handbag in warm water with dawn. I immersed the entire bag and let it soak. I air dried it. It turned out perfectly. You may want to give it a shot.

Good day Karen! Enjoying brunch & coffee while I watch you video! I think the wood carved animal is a weasel judging from the one that ran over my bare foot at the cottage & startled me as I had headphones on & listening to music! 🤯 For any item smelling of smoke or musty - I place in the freezer on a pc of freezer paper or similar for a period of time & find that usually works. Excellent for books & fabric. The flea market haul was especially great & the art of 'negotiation' really is an 'art' - of being fair & not insulting to the seller. For getting rid of the smoke smell, I've had pretty good success with wiping down leather with straight white vinegar and hanging outside for like a week to let it naturally oxygenate. I also do this with freshly laundered clothes, hanging them outside to dry for a few days. I just make sure items are not in the sun so they don't get any fading.

Hi, I visited Oaxaca Mexico about 12 years ago, and found wonderful pottery there. The black glaze is typical, and I bought a winderful black skull with an intricate punched hole pattern. It comes out every Halloween. 🎃

Your black rooster is a tourist piece from Oaxaca mexico. They are sold in the markets there.Your artwork prints are in English Pounds. I have two for my bathroom. One of mine is an older couple sitting on a bench with a picnic basket looking out over the sea. (My husband and I bought it because it reminded us of ourselves who married later in life and now retired to the seaside when we turned 60 a few years ago). They are sought after prints and you should do well with them. So darned cute. They are sold in the markets there. Cute piece. My husband asked me "is that lady doing a video in her bathroom"? I said I wouldn't put it past her to do that if she was showing us bathroom related items. Then I told him you are renovating your house and the vanity is in her studio room for the time being.

16:00 the only carved wooden opening lotus flower I have seen like that was a lamp. 16:28 The little separate flower actually goes on one of the three "stems" located on the trunk of the lamp. 🏵But what a fun buy!!

Hi Karen Try leaving a Clothes Dryer sheet (smell nice) in the smelly hand bag.. I put them in with quilts when season changes, I wash and pack away the quilt..so they smell beautiful when you get them out again. Sam Loft is a UK artist so the price was 72 Pound. Happy Sunday! Two words, Baking Soda.;) for the Fossil bag. Pour it in the bag, and put it in a plastic bin with another box of baking soda, the longer the better. Goos luck. This recently happened to me with a Strawberry Shortcake doll. I went to smell her strawberry and about to gag. I am a former smoker smoke free for about 19 years now. But I still hate the smell of smoke, especially stale old smoke. Great haul! Have a great week.

I've been passing up Margot bags and regretting it. Did it again the other day because there was a dark stain on the outside bottom. This one was definitely vintage. I have gotten stains out before but have not used Murphy's oil soap which I was reading about just last night. I might go back and see if it's still there. I love brown leather bags. You cannot go wrong.

Re: object #1 As a grandparent, have been in process of re-purchasing my childhood book favorites, and one is entitled ‘Never tease a weasel’ from 1965. I am entranced by this figurine, as recently did a deep dive into whether we (Southern CT shoreline) have weasels, and if so, what type. Hammonassett State Park nearby did a series of videos on this very topic. It appears that you may have a weasel on your hands. It could be a short tail weasel. We have long tails here in Madison, and this far north they turn white in winter (ermine =weasel!). Who knows what it is - have enjoyed reading other guesses. Love it, no matter what!

That Lampshade is part of a nightlight that came from QVC or HSN. LOVE them. I have an assortment of them also the large burgundy lamp you showed. It was $80 20 years ago. I don't recall the nightlight prices, also bought from TV..

I think after cleaning, that cigarette smoke smell will go away. My favorite makeup bag is the one that used to come in a Nine West pocketbook. Had a mirror on outside. I buy them off eBay all the time. Once, one came wreaking of smoke. I wiped down with leather cleaner. Lysol on the inside and put it outside for a few days. The smell eventually went away.

Black on black Is a process in Native American pottery that you control the heat by throwing powdered manure on the fireTo take away some of the heat! It is called smothering the fire! It is made to be decorative and because of the smothering you can’t use it for food or water!
