Vintage Hoover Junior 1334A Review & Quick Demonstration

All the dirt all the grit, Hoover gets it every bit, for it beats as it sweeps as it cleans. Here's a well preserved metal bodied Hoover Junior from the swinging 60s complete with full set of tools and instruction book.

Early 1960s. The grey and white 1334A reolaced model 1334 in 1962. It was replaced with the one with a light green front cover and dark green bag in 1964.

If I remember correctly, the suction on these machines in hose mode was better than that of the old rear entry converters on the Hoover Convertibles.

Have two of the exact model of vacuum in the same colour scheme that we use as our main cleaners . Brilliant quality vacuum cleaners which have provided year after year of reliable service with a little refurbish every couple of years. When using the dusting tools adapter we always take the belt off the pulley first before fitting the adapter as find that the belt can be stretched too much when using the adapter as the belt lifter. serial no. KB774032 is most likely a 1964 edition. Last entry in Hoover's published records is KB 706000 in January 1964. Approximately 165,000 had been produced since July 1963. There were grey plastic hooded versions made after the launch of the hop green model, perhaps for the Mail order market. The hose end is designed to fit inside the dust tube for blowing and aerating feather pillows! the circle on the paper bag should line up with the circle on the bellows which is is marked on genuine Hoover bellows. Hope this information is useful.

These old cleaners were designed to work with high bbn pile and shag carpet so that doesnt surprise me. It also doesnt surprise me about the suction as these work on powerful airflow which cleans deep and better than anything today honestly.

Hoover Juniors are still great vacuum cleaners even today 👍 It's a shame Hoover didn't update the junior, keeping the same style but with things like a more powerful 500-700 watt motor to give extra airflow and suction and a HEPA style internal bag. I think there will be many older Hoover's around for a very long time yet. They look pretty simple to refurbish or repair👌

So, this 59 year old Hoover, unserviced, cleans your deep plush pile carpet very well and the newest Dyson junk can't even move across it unless your lower the suction to near nothing. Hmmmm.

This style of Junior is from the second generation as the first were launched in the late 50s. And I think these were the first to use "paper" bags.

Great video and junior videos never get old. I see the Vorwerk dusting brush was used to clean out the junior. I know you mentioned in a previous video you have somewhat fallen out of love with Vorwerk but I hope maybe we will see some more Vorwerk videos and fingers crossed, an update to your Tiger.

Great video! I have a green one of these in pretty good condition. I don't think it saw much use as everything was in tact and the spark shield/flashpad hadn't even perished! By the way, theses ran from 1962-1965

@@huskyvacs That's incorrect. The 1334 in rose pink was the first of the 1334 style and that was late 50s into early 60s. The grey model was the second model in the 1334 series and ran from approx 1962 - 1965 when the green model of 1334 came out. It wouldnt have been possible for it to be from 1957 as the 1224 was the model current at that time, itself a blue version of the previous 119.

Pre 1967 you could not use the serial number to directly date a vacuum's date of manufacture, you would have a code starting with letters and then numbers such as JT235231 and you would need a booklet supplied by Hoover to check this code and determine the date range it corresponded to, but after 1967 the usual format of coding starting with the model number then the year and month such as 1334809 for a 1334A from Sept 1968. The scheme changed again in 1997 to the Candy Hoover style of serial number.

Hoover used to be classed as a British company controlled by an American parent before Hoover UK was sold. Currently the Hoover brand in the UK is owned by Chinese firm Haier. Hoover probably stoped making the Constellation due to a decline in sales for the model.

Not sure if it helps, but you can bypass the suppressor with a connector block. You will need to leave It in since the screws that hold it in also hold the motor armature in place but when it is not wired in, it won't explode or anything. I think the way it is wired can vary though so not sure.
