Had a '82 fretless. My precious for over 40y. Lovely to play with the thin neck and the active electronics. Best sound for me with 2/3 bridge pickup and 1/3 neck pickup. For many years I played with roundwounds, which gave some marks at the end. Later on flatwounds suited me better. Also a great sound. One thing I did not like: the dead spot at 6th 'fret' on the G-string. Pretty severe. With a few ounces of lead screwed at the rear of the head improved it a bit, but stayed too much. Now I have a Ibanez SRF705. I''m in love again. It has a 5th string, a stunning piezo pickup and a very stiff neck. But the Musician holds very well against it, and has some features the 705 does not have (like the thin neck, the balance control instead of 2x volume, active/passive switch).

I had this in 82. By far the best, most versatile bass I have played. Wish I could find one in great condition.

I have a similar musician that i bought some years ago, unfortunately the tuning machines need to be replaced. Do you know model hipshot tuners those are?

I bought one of these basses used in 1998, but I've never been able to tell what model exactly it is. Where should I look? It's the series number enough to know? It looks exactly like yours but maybe they were similar in different years

🤔The whole point is to listen to the pure sound of the bass, no compression, no eq. That's the point. But if Santa brings me a compressor I will be grateful 🎅🎶
