Wat een mooie spulletjes weer, die blauwe index kaarten heb ik ook....die haarklipjes werden vroeger veel gebruikt toen de dames nog hoge kapstel met grote rollers deden ze dat en vastzetten met een haarklipje zodat de krul erin kwam. inderdaad watergolven

10 years ago I lived in Amersfoort for a year for work and absolutely loved it! They had my favorite second hand store of all time and I brought so much home with me 🤣 I miss is terribly and hope to go back some day. I LOVE the fashion book! So many fun finds!!

Batavia is the old name of Jakarta (back when Indonesia was still Dutch East Indies), so your friend's atlas is definitely the newer one. The name Batavia was derived from the ethnic group who originated there, the Betawi people (I am 1/4 Betawi from my mother's side). And then it was renamed Jakarta from Prince Jayakarta, the lord or ruler of the port city in the 1600s, under the Sultanate of Banten in the westernmost part of Java Island (and I'm half Banten from my father's side). Great treasure haul as usual, Miss Margreth 🙂

The clips were used to make pin curls and when they were brushed out you would have waves in shorter hair. My mom had her hair done once a week and in between she would use those clips to keep her waves in place at night. Brings back lots of memories!

Margreth, the big thing in the cup with the lace bobbins is a tapestry comb for tapestry weaving and, yes, the ones with the woolies are most likely tapestry bobbins for weaving tapestries, but most definitely for weaving! 😘. Note tapestries can be as small as 1”x1” or as big as a wall!

I would so love to go thrift shopping in the Netherlands, everything's so cheap! In the UK charity shops are charging silly prices these days. The wooden tool with the spikes is for felting. Perhaps that was wool on bobbin’s what were in with the lace bobbins. Nice finds! And we celebrate with lots of fireworks, hot dogs and hamburgers on the 4th of July, it would be a huge party for your anniversary!

The travel sticker from Oklahoma is very old. That hotel used to be the “airport hotel” for our Will Rogers World Airport but the hotel has been gone for many years. It was great seeing that vintage sticker for my home state. The Will Rogers World Airport is still the major airport for Oklahoma City.

I LOVE watching your thrift hauls, almost as much as doing them myself!! I found a neat one recently, I found a book (older one about 1950's?) on printing which had all sorts of examples of advertising pieces in in!! It's great as they show different styles etc so there's a whole bunch of different types of fonts, logos etc!! Got it for $.50!!! (50 cents)!! SCORE!!!

you are so lucky with your thrift shops. Here in Australia they charge top prices for most things. Any old or interesting older books they can charge upwards from $25.00 can’t get many good finds these days, and if you do they charge the earth for them. So go out shopping before your thrift stores catch on to the trend. xx💕💕

I found a biscuit tin in a charity shop! It was an aga oven embossed theme! with oven gloves and utensils theme! It was sealed and I knew it was going to be disgusting inside! I just knew it but I picked it up and put it back! I embraced it and took it home! Yuk! but I persevered and cleaned it up! It now stores my oddments of ribbons and I love it! ❤❤❤
