That vintage Osterizer Blender brings me so many sweet memories of my Beloved Mother. She owned hers since the 1970s and it did not fail her until the year 2005! She quite literally shed tears when it broke down...she was so attached to it. Older home items were built to last and were of outstanding quality.

Thank you for sharing that sweet story, yes you are correct everything really was made to last. You could buy the things you needed to live once and they would last you, now you’re lucky if you get 5 years out of something. Makes me sad, so much waste!

Unlike these modern ugly looking sterile square boxy kitchens they make today ..all grey and boring.. i really hope within my youth and lifetime that this vintage style will become a mass trend!! Good job, you have made it just like a movie set it looks amazing!

The milkshake mixer on the shelf, I almost bought one this past weekend at an antique store but I just couldn’t justify the purchase-even though I really wanted to. Ha ha. You did a wonderful job capturing the kitchen! I’m going back to a 50’s kitchen as best I can. I still have the yellow Formica countertops and backsplash so I am well on my way. You can buy a little, metal ring to use the glass coffee and tea pots on the stove and a rubber washer for the blender. We had the avocado recipe box, when I was growing up. I had to get myself one from Etsy. We had one of the casserole dishes and salt and pepper shakers with the picture of vegetables on it too. :) When you said your curtains didn't fit, I thought, if they were too small, of sewing or fabric gluing them to a larger piece of coordinating fabric to make them fit.

Regarding the blender, if you unscrew the bottoms here should be a rubber ring that goes between the bottom piece with the blade on it and the glass “goblet.” You’re probably missing that. The blenders are noisy, but i have my mother’s from the 1960s and it still works well.

The Mr. Coffee II was, unsurprisingly, the second variation of Mr. Coffee. Yes, it’s right close to the beginning of the whole Mr. Coffee Genre. Mr. Coffee at first came with two switches, one for the brewer and one for the hot plate. This annoyed people because the would turn on one and forget to turn on the other :). The counters look great. I don’t recall anything that looked like stone until the 80s but you’d have had an abstract pattern that looked like this. So, well done! The spice shelf is fun, it’s definitely correct for the time as is pretty much everything here :) It’s not terribly hard to find vintage electric stoves and it has been my experience they don’t need to “be reworked” because the wiring was typically very well engineered. They need to be _tested_.

Oh my goodness that kitchen! My dad built an addition on our house that was completed in 1968. They had your exact wallpaper in 3 rooms - the kitchen and laundry had that motif in a blue-green color scheme and our downstairs powder room had the gold pattern. Did you find a vintage roll of this wallpaper, or did you find a reprint someplace? Do you know the manufacturer? We also had the same Mr. Coffee but with the yellow gingham panel, too! :)
@VintageVibesJamie2 жыл бұрын
Yes I found a brand new vintage roll still in the plastic but the writing on the plastic had been rubbed off in places making in hard to make out a manufacturer or a date. It came from a hoarders house, so I assumed they might have had the paper up somewhere in there house and maybe kept extra rolls in case?? The house had many duplicates of many things. This is really cool to hear because I always thought it looked like 1960s wallpaper but lots of people say it doesn’t look vintage, so now I can for sure say it’s 1960s wallpaper, I bet the blue green would be gorgeous 😊

Thank you! The wall paper is actually vintage from the 60s, I found it in a thrift store for pretty cheap. You can find vintage wallpaper on eBay but it can get pretty pricey. The contact paper I bought from an Instagram ad and I have tried to find the company name but it was so long ago. I didn’t think about saving it at the time in case people asked. It is a bit thicker and very glossy if that helps trying to find some. It says it’s supposed to be heat resistant but I haven’t tested that 😂

I HATE those modern Refrigerators. When I built my house 28 years ago, I bought a used Coppertone brown 1978 Montgomery Ward Refrigerator, and used it until 2013 when it died. I was going to try and repair it even if I had to replace most everything in it... but I pulled it out and discovered the defroster had been overheating and burned a black spot in the linoleum. I was afraid it would burn the house down, so I bought the stainless "look" new fridge. HOWEVER.... only the doors show that stainless, I attached masonite to the sides of the new fridge, and painted them with modern master antique copper paint. It's an expensive, metallic paint used for faux finishes, and when applied with a short nap roller, it looks EXACTLY like a coppertone brown 70's finish. I'm very happy with it.
@VintageVibesJamie Жыл бұрын
