Great weekend, time to roll out some vintage mowers and mutilate the lawn. Iron Horse, RPM, Craftsman, Snapper, are just some of the familiar names.

Super cool. I fell in love with old lawnmowers, when the 60's-70's muscle cars got stupid expensive.

If they have a Kohler Engine it's very possible they will run in 60 years

I was impressed by the wonderful video. Old mowers can be used for a long time with maintenance. The channel has been registered.

Very cool, i love them and kinda remember a few still hanging around during my childhood in 80s. i mostly do garden tractors, but restored and use a Craftsman rotary blade push mower, it works great and I have an older Craftsman walk behind, but not the older i prefer ;) i also want a motorized reel mower (with the cool "coleman type" gas cans), gang reel mowers for a garden tractor, and one of those sweet gems you have. Theyre nice like today when i replaced the idler pulley spring on my Bolens 48" deck, but then the center bearing went out and it was too overgrown for my dogs paws getting wet, so i did some old school pushin' lol. Good work and thanks for sharing.

So COOL! It looks like a couple of the mowers have a flip over handle. I miss not having that in mowers of today.

Wow this an awesome collection, in generally original condition; 1946 RPM Craftsman, approx. 1960 Sensation, 1954 RPM, Mid 50's Snapper, 1959 Eclipse 21. Some of these are very rare especially for their condition. The Eclipse has a very practical design, was a great mower to use. The early rotaries were modeled after reel mowers, with the wheels on the sides, preventing up-close trimming.

Very nice collection of vintage iron. I have a briggs that looks like one of yours, now all I need is an old mower deck for it to do its thing. Your engines sound great! thanks for sharing.

I just bought a circa 1970 (47-years old!) Sunbeam Lawn Champ electric mower. It runs and cuts better than the gas mower I have. It sounds like a jet engine (sort of). I bought it so I could try using a corded electric and it is kind of fun to use. You'd think these mowers are rare...who would save them since they get rusted and dirty and displaced by newer models? Sure don't sell for much....mine was $20.

Yes, single blade with handle as you mentioned. The collection bag was useless, so I had to jury-rig a plug (piece of sheet metal held on with a clamp) to keep grass from flying everywhere. This mower cuts the grass so finely, I have little clumping and you'd think you could call it a mulcher.

I forgot to mention, it is orange. I have to wear earplugs because the motor has a high-pitched whine that really aggravates my tinnitus (ear ringing). Probably should wear plugs when using any mower...

Don't get any better than that 😉

That orange one (Jacobsen maybe?) looks just like a Cooper "Cyclo-Mow" that I used to have from the same time period. It had the same engine and deck but it was green and rear wheel self propelled. It was a great mower but it would blow clippings up out of the front and then the wind would blow them right back into your face! Also had a "Cooper Klipper" power reel mower that was super dangerous, if you hit an obstruction with one wheel it would instantly do a 180 turn and start chasing you!

Nice parade!! 3 year old video - I have one maybe from the 1950's. 3hp brigs engine painted white (original paint) and "ford blue" aluminum deck. The wheels are white. Starts on the first or second pull every time. I use ethanol free fuel only. Too bad we couldn't upload pics... I get complimented on it constantly. paid five bucks for it two years ago. I don't know the original maker of it - I can't find anything like it.

With the engine cold, the choke should be closed. If it's manual choke, the butterfly should open and close while cranking. If not, the diaphragm is weak and the spring weak. Automatic chokes, the butterfly should be closed cold and open up as the engine warms up. Start the engine with the throttle wide open and choke closed. On manual chokes, the butterfly should move open and closed while cranking to prime the engine and let in air. If not it's the diaphragm and spring. Open the throttle fully open and see if the fast idle screw touches the engine. If not, replace the governor spring. It's gotten weak and loose. Vacujet is manual choke. The tubes on the side of the carb. are small. On automatic choke, the side piece is large and the tube end is small. Automatic choke, the side piece is large and inlet tube part is small. Automatic choke should be closed cold and open up as it warms up. Set both at fast idle when starting.
