Le Male from Jean Paul Gaultier was my first signature scent. Whilst it's still nice it isn't quite what it used to be. DUA fragrances "DUA Man" is inspired by the vintage formulation of "Le Male". In this video I discuss whether it is better than the Le Male that is selling today.

Yeah the editing was awesome in this one. Jeremys videos the last 1-1,5 years has really gone downhill. I clearly recall old skool Le Male. It totally blows todays juice out of the water. I spray on todays formulation and i get maybe 2 hours of smelling it on my skin. The mid 90s version.....id wear it out in the pubs and clubs, back when smoking was allowed and i could still clearly smell it on my skin and clothes 24 hours later. It was a massive performer

I got so excited when I saw this pop up. What a coincidence, I just got my Dua Man recently on ebay, it was out of stock on Dua's website when I tried to get it there so I'm glad to see it's back now. As soon as I sprayed it, it teleported me back. It's so good. The modern Le Male is really good and I still wear it but this stuff just got me right in the feels, right in the heart- it almost made me emotional lol. I hadn't smelled that smell in soo long and it lasts for days. Since Dua's scents are extrait de parfum, they almost smell like an amped up version of what they're cloning and that's amazing...I was never into Dua but this made me immediately buy 3 more. If you're on the fence, it's really that good, I can't say enough about it. The Fucking Fabulous clone is very good as well, I'd love to hear Frag-mentals take on that EDIT: The opening is a little intense and makes me sneeze lmao...But I will gladly take it bc when it settles down in about 15-20 minutes, it's a spitting image of the old Le Male

It's as though the Le Male I bought in 2009 smelled 3-dimensional whereas the Le Male I bought in 2017 smells 2-dimensional. The older one was way stronger and sort of had a waxiness to it. It was also slightly more powdery and minty.

I'm right there with you.I loved it back in the early 2000s, and still love it. However, I have aways loved it as a daily driver, than a clubbing fragrance. Yes, it worked for standing out in the club, but I didn't want to wear it for that. I'm glad Dua did this, and will have to buy a bottle to compare the two. ❤❤❤

I also had what you may call an OG formulation and it did use to smell much more robust and last longer..I remember washing my clothes and I could still smell it on them..The only close clone I found is Cuba Gold,it smells 97% similar to me,but it looks like I need to try Dua Man

Clones get a bad reputation but a lot of the value around fragrances is just name brand and marketing. I've worn essential oil replicas that were 10$ and got compliments, and i wouln't be surprised if these recreate the strength and projection of the early fragrance launches before they get reformulated.

My question is this. If classic fragrances are not as strong and vibrant as they used to be, possibly because of regulations or access to resources, then why can another house recreate them better than the house which created the original?? Sort of frustrating to be honest.

I've been anticipating this review. I did a blind buy of Dua Man in early February, suspecting it would sell out, which it did within one or two days. It was restocked and then sold out again. I can't contain my enthusiasm for this new release. Fans of Le Male and fragheads brace yourselves. This fragrance is stunning! It is a high quality scent with beast mode projection and performance. It could make anyone's top 10 favorites list, designer or niche. None of the praise is exaggerated. Chris, your enthusiasm is understandable. Your review, probably the first on KZbin, really does the fragrance justice. I always look forward to your reviews. Now let's wait for the enthusiasm to spread!

Error 406 is ultra male. Just FYI. If you want to know how they get so close to old vintage frags, it's science basically. Masham hired a team of chemist's who use what's called a mass spectrometer. In a nut shell, this breaks down whatever you put into it to the molecular/atomic level, and spits out a formala of what's in it. The only challenge is, you need to find and aquire the original fragrance you want to clone. Masham said in an interview the closest yes gotten, per their mass spec, is 95% close. At that point, even the best perfumers will have a tough time telling them apart. So, to the people who say, don't buy Dua it's just essential oil in alcohol! No, that's not at all how they do it. They have a real chemist team that figures out what's in a fragrance based on the results of the spectrometer. Then, they do their best to remake it based on what the spectrometer says is in the sample they put in. The issue is, you'll never have the same exact source of say lavendar oil, pink pepper, bergamot, etc, and the fragrance is going to vary slightly because of that. But, if you still use high quality ingredients while doing it, you can get close. Most of the price is in the marketing and advertising of the fragrance anyways, not the juice. The difference is a fake pair of Jordan's VS the real thing. Even if I make a pair using higher quality fabric and thread, and make it look exactly the same. It's still not a real pair of Jordan's. The quality of them isn't what is being questioned. It's an issue of branding. Personally, I don't care if I have the real thing, or a "fake" one. I just like smelling good, and trying new smells out. Especially the old ones!

I sold my bottle of vintage Le Male recently on eBay (20-25 years old). Got a good price for it. It still smelt as good as when I first used it. However I no longer go ‘out on the pull’ anymore so it was going to waste for me.

I do still love the smell although I no longer wear the fragrance and haven't done in years. I remember that the shower gel would come in a toothpaste style tube, metallic look, absolutely brilliant. And as for the commercials, especially the one with the sailors getting ready to go out, that one, unbelievably sexy.
