I found the chart very helpful and glad I’ll be concentrating on the earlier decades. Thanks for the continued reports. I love them!

Thanks, Bette! As far as appreciating the content of the ads, I gravitate to the earlier decades as well.

What struck me was no ads from look or life magazines and that’s like 90 percent of where the ads on eBay are from. You have truly found the combination to selling ads great job!

I have a bunch of them up for sale, and I do sell them occasionally. Those were the priciest titles to advertise in because they reached the most customers and therefore, the ad campaigns were expensive too, with the best talent in the country involved. So they are great ads, artistic and flashy. There's just a lot of them.

Hallo! Your content is interesting and helpful. We have sold at flea markets & toys shows infrequently. Whittling down our collections toys dolls advertising figures. Though I want to keep them all (paper ads are my favorite collection) I bring a couple boxes of old ads holding 150 ads each displaying them on the end of a table for $5-$7 each. People are interested but are in a rush nowadays, too busy to take the time to look even at a pokey flea market. We are selling some toys on EBay but shipping the Ads seems daunting as does seeing other Ad sellers with 230k feedbacks! Again thanks for sharing, love seeing the sold Ads with your explanations and input and the tips and I do read the comments also. So helpful.🕊️

First of all, I love your handle! Thanks for watching the channel. I agree that selling ads in a physical space is a challenge. Like you, I've found people don't browse like they used to. I was a little concerned about shipping ads at first, but using the rigid mailers I've never had a single damage issue. It's true there's a lot of competition with ads on eBay, but I also feel like anyone can succeed at it. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate your thoughts... and good luck with your whittling!

Hi, when you list a multi page ad how do you you specify if it's 4 pages but one is double sided. Thanks for another informative video.

Hey, Joe! I try to put total pages in the title if there's room. Details about front and back of page printing goes into the item description. For example, here's my comment in the description of the Dancer's Notebook listing: Four full pages on four separate sheets. None of these are printed on both front and back, which will allow for all four to be framed and displayed together! An example of an ad you describe would have a comment in the description like this: This collection of 5 illustrations is printed on 3 sheets. Two have illustrations on front and back. The back of the third sheet begins a different magazine artice. Or this: Four Full Pages on two sheets, printed front and back. Or this: Six full pages - three front and three back folded, not separated. It measures 14" high by 33" wide. The point is to make sure the buyer understands what will show or what it's possible to have showing together that might affect their decision to buy. Statements like those above, combined with the photos in the listings, usually accomplish that, without additional questions from shoppers. It's a great question and I hope the answer does it justice. Thanks for participating on the channel!

Thank you for the detailed explanation and the examples. I'll start using something like that in my listings. I have some listed and used the term double sided page, and had a customer ask for further details. I figured it was clear in my head, but obviously clear as mud for others. Thanks again.

I'm bored with selling clothes and thinking of getting into another category and this looks so interesting! I'm just curious, what do people do with these ads? Do they realize it's just a flimsy magazine page? Also, is there some sort of pricing strategy in having all your prices end in .77 ?

Selling print ads has many pros and many cons. I watch clothing resellers on eBay, and the really good ones, who know the right labels and the right styles to source (and can find them) have phenomenal sell-thru rates that you'll never see in magazine print ads. But print ads are comparatively simple to list and store. I have all 8,500+ of my active listing items sitting in four totes on a 6' table. I've only had three return requests resulting from customers' misunderstanding about what they've purchased (and it's hard to understand how that possibly happened). So, yeah, in general, I would say they have a complete understanding that they are buying a piece of paper. There's so many reasons they buy - for decoration, for history, for nostalgia... I use the .77 ending for two reasons. I've never studied marketing, but as a life-long consumer, I feel like $14.77, for example, is a good number to lend a shopper the perception of a much lover price than $15.00 - or $14.99 or $14.95. Also, when I'm checking comps or testing my listing placements in search results, it makes my own listings easier to spot. I think .88 or .66 or any of the other doubled digit endings would work as well for that - except for .99 (too many of those for it to be effective for that). Thanks for watching and for commenting! Whether you take the plunge into selling magazine print advertising or not, I hope you'll continue to find the content here interesting and helpful.

@@BlueFeatherEphemera Thank you so much for the info! I've been selling on ebay for 20 years, focusing only on clothing for the past 10 ish - the problem with clothing is you absolutely need to have a constant available source of desirable items to be able to list daily - I unfortunately do not live in an area where people buy/wear high end or "trendy" brands/styles!! The time to source/clean/photograph/measure/list is very time consuming .... At this point I'm burnt out so I think I'll give some vintage stuff a try :)

@pennyluck9696 I sold vintage decor (including a huge amount of decorative glass and ceramics) for about 4 years before I got into print ads. It quickly took over the house! LOL. Don't get me wrong, I love working with that kind of vintage, but it's tricky to ship and eats up space! Best of luck however you decide to evolve and grow!
