I think that's the threshold we've finally crossed over. I don't see the cards themselves necessarily tanking or anything so extreme, but I think demand for them is going to just continue to fizzle out until only the most hardcore investors and collectors are the only ones left. Frankly, I'd say we're pretty close to that point already.

Pokémon Company International has released a statement addressing the recent Pokémon TCG shortage, thanking the community for its patience as it attempts to print more of the popular sets that continue to sell out, such as the latest expansion to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Prismatic Evolutions. A spokesperson stated the following to IGN: "We’re aware that some fans may experience difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game: Scarlet & Violet-Prismatic Evolutions products at launch due to high demand impacting availability. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this." "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible to help ensure more fans receive opportunities to access Scarlet & Violet-Prismatic Evolutions. In addition, more new products from the Scarlet & Violet-Prismatic Evolutions lineup will be launching in the coming months. fck you Rudy

The moment these booster boxes go out of print, they start returning 10-50% plus the amount he sells, even if he gets 2% return per box while in print, greatly outweighs what he would make selling vintage.

I think vintage Magic will have a hard ceiling until the game dies. Once that happens, there will be a fresh pile of money seeking out the vintage sets strictly as a collectible. But Magic remains a player's game, so most people will put their money into playable cards. And whenever that sad day comes that the game actually dies, the biggest losers will be these $300 Collector boxes that people stash in their closets. Or really anything from the modern era. Does anyone really think a Scalding Tarn will hold its value if there's no one playing the game? Much less a Retro-Framed Foil-Etched Scalding Tarn. After an older product has already been recognized as "collectible" and a company starts pandering to that desire with new products, they never hold up. Plenty of examples to look at, such as vintage Star Wars toys vs post-1995 versions.

I want to start by saying I’m a HUGE fan of Rudy, I have always loved this channel. I just want to observe that when you are bashing CGC, whilst demonstrating that they are actually grading accurately, ones bias starts to show😆. Having graded with CGC for a number of years now, and submitted hundreds of cards I can attest that their grading standards are high, and even after meticulous vetting of my cards, less than 10% come back pristine 10’s (it’s mostly pokemon). I believe CGC has carried on the grading practices that made them one of the worlds foremost cosmic graders, and applied those standards to card grading. Also! Just discovered that in addition to maintaining the human element in their grading process, they have also incorporated AI technology to identify possible blemishes or defects that the graders themselves may have overlooked, in order to better ensure accuracy. Anyway! That concludes my keyboard warrioring lol. I’m going to go back to being a carrot 🥕 and rewatch more of Rudy’s collection buying videos. Much love everyone, and Rudy keep up the entertaining content 🙏

I can't remember where I read it, but I think it was a comment left on one of your previous videos. Essentially, the sentiment was that the majority of the vintage Magic market these days is a relatively small handful of people buying and selling to each other and that's basically it. The cost on most of this stuff is so prohibitive compared to other sectors of MTG that it makes people that aren't already in a position to buy and collect at this caliber even less likely to do so. Nevermind the fact that people that haven't been playing for the better part of 25-30 years just don't have the nostalgia for these cards that those of us that have been around that long do. I think it has always been inevitable that we'd get to this point in the game's existence, where the old guard is less and less active in the financial aspect of the game and either off it entirely or content with what they have. As someone that started around 1998-1999, I love all the old stuff... but I don't see vintage cards ever seeing high demand again. They're an ever-dwindling commodity that will just continue to be harder and harder to get as copies are lost, destroyed, or otherwise forgotten about.

I'd say all your upper 5% wealthiest magic players are going to own Vintage and Old Skool... think about the Prof, Rudy and Post obviously but also many"laymen", either bros that top 8 Pro Tours and other big tournies, or that just career wise just end up being able to afford a beautiful OG mox or two, a sly power 9 or so. I see plenty of it in Europe and I assume we are a minnow of compared to what is going on in if you look in the right places in the US
@canman8721 сағат бұрын
@jamiesangster9350 Yeah, that's kind of what I mean. Basically only the upper echelon of MTG "society", so to speak.
