Vintage Miller High Life Beer Cooler Restoration

I overpaid for a shitty Miller High Life cooler I found on Facebook marketplace. In my boredom I decided to breathe a little extra life into this puppy. To my surprise it holds ice extremely well and keeps drinks cold. It's also vintage so that's pretty cool. It doesn't look half bad for a half-assed, one-hour restoration. I think I'll keep it. I also hope Ron (the guy I bought it from) enjoys his $30. He had a pretty big f**kin' house so I'm sure he can use it to pay someone to cut his grass.

Cool project. I’m all for whatever makes us happy in our own space. I just scored a Coca Cola cooler about the same size as yours but on legs with casters . It’s got the plastic interior with the half and half hinged lid. Jus missing the knobs on the lid and the bottle opener with the catcher for the bottle caps. I spent several hours polishing it with turtle wax to try and bring the color back ( it was sun bleached to a light pink.) I got it up to a very faded red. I’m trying to avoid rubbing off the logos on the front and back. (Arms are killing me). While it’s wet it looks good but dry it looks bad. Do you have any recommendations for me to remove the sun bleaching??

Hey, thanks! It was really just something for me to do during COVID lockdown. I still have the cooler. As far as your project with the sun bleaching, if it were me, I’d probably do a repaint on it if I wanted to fix the fading. I’m not sure if there’s any alternative method that would permanently bring the vibrance back to life. Keep me posted and hopefully it all turns out just the way you like!

@@JakeInGeorgia I watched a few peoples’ videos restoring boats and rv. The popular product seems to be Maguiar’s One Step RV and marine polish. I’m not sure if it works by hand but maybe I can borrow a polisher from someone.
