How can this old chap still sound so freaking good nowadays

Coz it's the Grandaddy, It's a Moog!

Hired a 70s minimoog for a session once. Had it for about 10 hours. Could have easily wasted the entire time just messing around with it. Was so wonderfully wonky and cool, as this video demonstrates. Sounds very different to even the direct emulations. Also borrowed an actual tape loaded Mellotron that day too. Was also very cool.

ATMELtronic plus a short intro of "we are the robots". Used to have one on 74-79, had to sell it ;-(( ... bought a voyager in '09 and a phatty in '10... they're not really the same. Just sold the li'l phatty (but am keeping a slim one in a rack. Best replacement, imho: a sub-37, or a mother 32 driven by an Arturia keyboard...

Some synth's have a different kind of sound, It really depends on the type of sound engine it uses neither its analog or digital. I bet it sound amazing when you had it back in 74-79, I'm shore it makes some nice sound's depending how you program it ! :-)

Beautiful sounds... I wonder if the Behringer Model D can sound like that. It should, because it seems not just close, but identical to the original. The problem is that it should be tested by a good sound designer, I've had enough of basic sound waveform comparison...
@AnalogAudio16 жыл бұрын
It does not same identical, believe me

You should make these patches available with the standard Moog patch sheets (like in the manual), save it as a PDF. I'll bet people would grab it. :)
@AnalogAudio17 жыл бұрын
these are very basic settings. Every Minimoog user who understood how it works should be able to set them.
@scottlarson15487 жыл бұрын
This is why back in 1983 I chose a used ARP Odyssey instead of a used Minimoog. I like the bass sounds but the rest is just too clean for me. When I played the Minimoog, everything sounded like Switched-on-Bach to me. With oscillator sync and the ring modulator I had no trouble making crazy sounds that I had never heard before with the Odyssey.
@AnalogAudio16 жыл бұрын
With a Minimoog you could make ring modulator-like effects as well, if you know how

Some say that early moogs (1972 - 1978, with old osc boards) sound "warmer". Is it true? Which rev do you like best? (google translate)
@AnalogAudio12 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's true. I like the early ones best. This one in the video has the newer osc board. It's definitely more stable and perfect tracking, but it also sounds more "exact".
