Thank you for this! My tree's unfortunately broken in a different way (split in the back near the base) but this is inspiring me to actually work on it. Also the snake replacement is brilliant. I never thought to look for another snake puppet. I just stick a halloween snake skeleton through the hole as if my snake died.

Excellent fixes . I stuffed my original snake with foam to hold its shape and stop the rubber from sticking to itself and ripping. That puppet Is a great stand in for the original.

A trick to getting the holes to line up for reattaching two broken pieces of plastic like the tree limb is to drill a hole in one piece and then insert a short piece of paperclip heat the tip with a lighter and press the pieces together. The hot paperclip will leave a pilot hole in exactly the right place. Take it apart, drill the second hole and insert a longer piece of paperclip or more substantial rod. If you hold the small piece of paperclip with needle nose pliers while heating, you can insert it into the first hole and then make the pilot hole without melting the the surrounding plastic. It’s important to use a very short piece so you can align the parts to get a perfect fit.

Some real nice work on those clips. Funny I remember playing with that puppet a lot, it's true it didn't really look much like a real snake heh. Bet a black wash paint job would look good on that tree, make the bark details pop more.

Alright, one more post on this video. Last night, thanks to you and your videos, I took down my Fright Zone (which was in fairly good shape, apparently) and fixed all of the little broken bits on it, and I'm SO happy to have done it. Thank you so much. It's definitely got pride of place in my collection again. I still need a replacement snake, but I'll get there soon!

Believe it or not, mask makers often use a mix of house paint, water and (sometimes) liquid latex to paint masks. There are several KZbin videos showing the mix. It’ll let you repaint the snake without having the final result crack and peel. You can find cheap, small.containers of latex house paint in most any color you’d want.

For painting the snake, if it's latex try Elmers glue, lighter fluid, and oil paint, I've not tried painting latex with contact cement as the base as you need rubber glue to let the paint stick, acrylic and latex is an alternative also.

I went looking for "MotU Fright Zone playset" to see if I could find any pictures of the snake puppet. My gadd, it actually looks _worse_ than the _yellow_ snake puppet! You could have left it alone and _still_ had a better-looking snake puppet than the official one!

To fix those clips & such I would take Palstic zip ties & put them in a glue gun. Like clear zip ties & just go over.I saw a video where you can melt plastic sip ties to weld plastic together. Or make a new part.

You might get better paint life on rubber if you give it a watered down coat of white glue. The Elmer’s glue we have in the US makes a layer of vinyl that saves a lot of foam prop surfaces. If it pulls away it will look like the snake is molting which will mean he is that much more irritable

There is an eBay custom manufacturer, from Canada, that pops up from time to time on eBay, with a particular model of a custom fright zone, rock monster, that is to scale with the vintage, fright zone and does indeed, look better than a new, vintage, fright zone puppet!

I think you should consider publicly displaying the Like count on your videos, now that KZbin has disabled the dislike counter. I know you've said before it was something you didn't like about KZbin, but I do think having the Like count visible encourages more people to actually use it. And having more likes helps you with the kooky KZbin algorithm.
