I'm 53 years old, so I can't say that I grew up during these times, but yet my grandparents did. And I can still remember their music and their entertainment and their holiday decorations and their food. So I had a connection. My grandparents house in the 1970s was still full of things and objects from 20 or 30 years prior. I am grateful for that connection. I couldn't imagine being young now and only having digital media as a connection.

I love vintage stuff, and I love the idea of living in the 40s. But that's about it. I love the "idea" of it. *ACTUALLY* living in the 40s? Before modern medicine and when most women were expected to be homemakers and have no career or their own? No thanks. (World War II did change things a bit, but it was really only because "all the men were away at war." Also, World War II is another reason I wouldn't want to live in that time.) I don't think I'm living in the wrong era. Maybe I'd love to *visit* the 40s, as in a time travel adventure story, but not actually live in them on a daily basis. I do love the idea of a simpler life, though. I like the idea of families gathered around the dinner table and radio shows. Or even just telling each other stories. We could still do that today, though. The problems facing us today are overwork and isolation, among other things. If we had less of that, perhaps it would be easier to have gatherings like this. :)

I was a teen in the 90s. As we go back in time holiday ambience is well summarized by the feeling this video inspires. During Christmas holidays in the 80s, my great grand parents (b.1918) would listen to music like this on vinyl records. My guess would be these songs were quite popular in the 1930s or 40s, but, alas, this was long before my earliest memories. The 1940s must have been a great time to be alive if one could survive the great wars, economic depression, racial injustices, or other major challenges of those times. I look upon that time in history mostly with envy of their ability to compress aspects of humanity in their music whether is was love, or the blues, they perfected the ability to express aspects of life through song. They were a generation of perseverance. We should examine how they did it. We are going to need the same set of skills to survive our part of history.

Takes me to my childhood. Especially during family holiday gatherings. I remember sitting with all my cousins in the living room. Some of us on the couch and others sitting on the floor watching holiday cartoons at night. We were all so excited that cartoons were on TV 📺 so late at night. Today there are cartoon channels that play 24 hours a day. Back in those years it was a treat to watch cartoons at night. National anthem would play, then static. Nothing to watch after midnight. Thanks for your posts and bringing back wonderful memories ☺️

My dad grew up in the 70s and I always got a kick out of hearing what his generation thought of as the Oldies station. His mother- my grandmother- had polio as an infant and has never walked, but she loved the idea of dancing, and often he’d come home from school and find her swaying on the spot to big-band jazz, Vince Guaraldi and Charlie Byrd, stuff like that. They grew up in a big old Victorian in small-town New England, and I’m imagining coming in after a day of snowball fights and mischief, cold stinging my cheeks, and hearing the warble of an old gramophone over long-distance chatter on the telephone and the click, click of the big cast iron radiator. They had two old fat dogs and a rotating cast of shipyard cats, and if not for all the alcoholism and generational trauma that permeated those years I’d swear he misses them.

Well Christmas is coming up again and so many things have changed in my family, all of my grandparents are gone, several marriages have failed, my dads family all moved down south, my cousins who were closest in age to me have gotten married and are having kids, and as an adult I see way more family drama than I saw as a kid. However hearing this makes me feel like a kid at Christmas where my grandparents were still alive and we'd listen to older music like this more often and hear this in older movies they'd watch. The old Christmas specials and Disney movies too, transporting me to a time where the only drama was my aunt not making my favorite Christmas cookies, or whether I'd see Santa that night. I may be only 21 but I am glad that I grew up in an era where we had these songs available at any time, including the VHS and DVDs of Christmas specials and older Disney movies.

When I was a kid in the 90s, I heard these songs on television. Now it took me back to those years, halcyon and memorable years. 💖💖

I think that it is odd that many people ,like myself, all feel nostalgic over a specific period in time and all of the (mostly music) relics of the said time period. But I also enjoy being able to share a nice ol warm feeling with others.

Listening to this kind of music feels nostalgic like 1920's era, even if you are not alive at that year.

It's snowing for the first time in this year Turkey right now. It's 4 o'clock at night and I'm listening to these songs peacefully while watching the snow from the window.

Thanks for bringing back memories, from far batter days than we have the past couple of generations. I miss sitting around the radio with family, listening to music, and radio Comedy & Drama shows. 👍👍 5⭐ rating from me, and many more.

This gives me a warm sense of pseudo-nostalgia. I've never lived in a snowy region. I've never lived in town. I'm only 35. I can only imagine being in an old house in a historical city in winter. It the middle of a snow storm and the fire and music keeping the whole place warm.

I really like these anti songs, a sense of relaxation and nostalgia for a time I didn't even live in takes over me

Thank you, tending the fireplace at my grandparents house as a boy in the early 1960's, the women in the living room, the men drinking whiskey and beer, "hi-balls" in the kitchen, great memories.
