Vintage Paiste Formula 602 Ride Cymbal Comparison!

Hey! Today we are checking out four amazing vintage Paiste Formula 602 ride cymbals, all 20"s: Flatride Thin, Medium, Sound Creation Dark, New Dimensions Dark. They all use the famous Paiste B20 alloy: CuSn20, yet they all have really different vibes. These ride cymbals are great for jazz, rock and anything acoustic! Check them out!!

Effortless Drumming in 30 Days is a holistic method of learning designed especially to build upon these desires, and is structured to help you avoid these problems for life. Through working in this group you will gain lifelong skills and habits that will help you to always play at your best, avoid physical problems and give you endless creative options for your drumming.
How does it work?
Once a week for 5 weeks, you will be emailed a video to watch. In these videos I present the prepared curriculum, which will include hand exercises, full body stretches, hand outs, mindset work, support material etc.
Then, once a week you can log into the QandA session where you will have the ability to get one on one feedback by sharing your camera and sound live with the class, ask questions about the material, and get inspired from what the other students are doing.
The group is designed with encouragement & support in mind, you will be part of a private Facebook group where you will upload videos of yourself working through the content during the week. I will be reviewing videos daily and giving feedback to keep you moving forward. The aim is for us to have an incredibly interactive and supportive learning experience.
As a bonus, you will have lifelong access to the private Facebook group to get feedback on your drumming for an ongoing basis!

You describe the KILLER, AMAZING bell on the Sound Creation Dark Ride… and then DON’T EVEN strike the bell! Don’t worry, I have a 22”, I KNOW how killer the bell is - I have a 22” Bell Ride too - BUT, the viewer of this video who isn’t initiated NEEDS to hear that bell!

Ha I know! I realised that when uploaded! Im going to do a deep dive into that cymbal and play the bell 1000 times to rectify - the 22's are amazing!! Good score :)

I own a 602 22" thin crash re-issue and it still has that clean B-20 Paiste sound, with incredible shimmer. I've played other re-issues in different sizes and can't discern a sound difference from the earlier ones. You did a nice comparison video.

I have a pair of 1974 black label 2002's with most of the label still visible and they sound great! I use them quite often!

Excellent video! You own some beautiful treasures. I have the preserial 20 602 medium ride but that flat would be great to have. I had a vintage black label 2002 I sold off. I really regret that.

Wow nice cymbal to have! I regret selling many cymbals, but if they aren't being used I think its only right to move them on - someone else is now getting lots of fun out of it! (at least thats what I tell myself!!)

I have a medium 22" & two 20" rides of different weights. I have an 18" med crash & my 14" highhats. They are all 60's preserial 602's & I am always looking for one to hit the market at a good deal. Joe Morello made his sing, lol.

just discovered your channel. Loved the Paiste comparison. I bought a New dimension many years ago but never felt comfortable with it ,even tried putting rivets in it.I get it out sometimes for a different sound but never on a gig. i have 20 "Paiste Traditional flat which i use for pretty much everything.

Thanks mate! Yes the New Dimension is the one I use the least out of these 4, but I'll never get rid of it haha - surely the right gig will come along for it??

I have a 20” sound Creation Bell Ride, I believe my is from 1976 according to the numbers.

I own a 22 blue writing medium flat ride, bought at a sale new in 1984. Together with a vintage 1965 tromsa german made drum I bought lightweight paiste dixie 14" hihat and 18 crash-ride. The hihats are great in acoustic setting, the 18 is useless. Second Hand bought Stambul 20" very good, dry, wonderful chrashable

As far as I know these are not all B20 cymbals. Formula 602 is B20. Signature cymbals and sound creation are certainly B15 alloy and I'd guess new Dimensions were too. Paiste is always experimenting with different alloys to keep ahead of the game.

good video, but why did you comment on how great the bell was on the dark ride cymbal, but not play it? had me really interested...

The Sound Creation line basically has nothing to do with the 602s - it was a line of its own.

Yes!! Nylon tips aren’t my preference as they make the cymbals too bright for me :) If you like something else that’s awesome 😎
