Congratulations on acquiring that rare pair of vintage sunglasses, man! They look amazing, are obviously great quality and I can see why your psyched about getting a hold of such a collector’s item! This video also makes me wonder, who knows whether there’s a particular pair of premium sunglasses that some of us might currently own that could be similarly highly sought after in 30+ years.

I honestly don’t think there really is anything that can compete with Persol, one of the biggest reasons being how fragile the old vintage personal frames were they just simply did not last. Vintage Ray-Ban acetates, however held up really well overtime.

Arguably Persol physician glasses are pretty bad for general use lol Where vintage B&L Rayban Wayfarers for example you could wear every day, and I have a problem

A lot of the reason is because of how innovative, Persol’s early designs were with the Victor bridge, folding capability, and melflecto technology

@@ShadeReview Interesting, I see your point. These days even a pricey brand that sells limited-edition eyewear made in small batches, like Jacques Marie Mage, are durable. So I can see why they wouldn’t be comparably “rare” in 30+ years. A few years ago I purchased a couple pair of pricey glasses, from a pretty reputable brand called Morgenthal Frederics, that are fragile because they are made of buffalo horn. But, I think that material ages such that its not going to last 30 years even if I care for them and never wear them😀

I have just bought the 714sm and they look great. Is there a workaround for the folding problem of the arms scuffing the inner lens?

I can confirm the front curve differs from every single pair you purchase from Luxotticas Persol. I have recently ordered 3 pairs and they were all different. Some of them more curved or flat than the others. Even you can experience this yourself. Your latest Persol 714 SM unboxing video (when you're wearing white gloves) have a quite flat front compare to your other black 714 SM and the terra di siena regular 714.

Agree. Same experience like me, I have 2 pair of the 649 with same sizes, and yes one pair more curvy and the other flatter. But still, it's Persol and I love it however it is

Correct this is true but these are all hand made frames carved out of a single sheet of acetate so there will definitely be differences between each individual frame. That’s part of what makes Persol frames so special!

The modern 714 am are amazing because you can actually wear them and not be afraid of damaging them! The build quality is amazing on them as well

​@@ShadeReview Well, if was so keen on to get my hands on for something special like that, it would only take a matter of the time to peel off the sticker and wear them outdoor. 😂 if you do so, just make sure to keep the sticker in good condition and put it pack onto the lens once you got home. 😅
