Funny how YT recommended this video. As you mentioned it's an improvised stretcher from Boy Scout and Army days. However, this past weekend we made such a stretcher to move some huge rocks from one fire ring to another. How did YT know? I should have made a bed out of it!

A similar one my granpa used was to have two sticks on one side. He put the blanket between them and rolled it a couple times. Sitting in the Y they couldn't unroll, especially with any weight in the bed. Thanks for sharing!

I really don't have an answer as to why your videos aren't more popular. I mean, they are. This channel has so much potential for growth though. The uploads are quick, informative, and relevant to your targeted demographic. I think this channel would really grow if you were to do some lives, and vlogs. Keep up the quality content. Using the stake for a pilot Is brilliant. It's so simple. I would have never thought of doing that. Really dig that bush hat. We need a vid on some great bush hat options and features, lol.

I can not wait to do this!! Another excellent video, straight forward and on point the entire time. No wasted words, time or energy. Excellent video, James. Think it's time I start making my own diagrams and step by step instructions in my rucksack and butt pack waterproof notepads of your videos. I just picked up a wool blanket and wish I could try this right now. Bad news is the ground is frozen here till probably the end of March...maybe April or later. Good news is I don't need the mosquito net! :)

That was fun to watch. I'm thinking a couple of heavy duty construction trash bags would work great instead of wool blanket
@WayPointSurvival
@WayPointSurvival 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that would work fine as well, just might make you sweat in the summer as the plastic doesn't breathe. You could also use a couple of feed bags or jackets sliding the poles through the sleeves and zipping up the center. The biggest problem with most of those, however, as an adult, is that you can't get them far enough apart and you end up with the poles underneath your armpits all night, kind of uncomfortable if you know what I mean. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great video. Watched a guy use two hessian sacks in the same way, both ends cut off and poles through the sides and blanket used in the usual way. Thanks for sharing, love your traditional ways 👍🏼🙏🙏
@WayPointSurvival
@WayPointSurvival 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The problem with the sacks is that they are too narrow and you end up laying on the poles (unless you're really small or skinny, lol!) But yes, that is something some folks do and I have a video on that on my channel from a couple of years ago.
@captainfragger6295
@captainfragger6295 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'll bet you could do that with an old cheap sleeping bag... assuming the zipper could handle the weight 😁👍 Perhaps do a modification, sewing loops on either side. Maybe?

Think I saw a similar setup in a spaghetti western where they staked out this poor guy in the open heat. Cant recall if he lived or not but I'm certain he had no wool blanky. That setup comes in handy if the ground is damp...or soaked...or full of fleas, snake or leeches, porcupine, or scorpion. It does not help to evade flesh hungry zombies.
