About the traditional vs digital lineart: that's my experience also! Sometimes having the ability to undo makes you sloppy and it ends up taking way more time to get good lines. I really like what you said in one of your recent videos and I think it goes hand in hand with this, about not fussing excessively with the traditional part of a drawing because you can fix it digitally after scanning. I'm also trying to do more traditional art and I've been keeping what you said in mind and it's been really freeing.
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
That's great!! Yeah sometimes I feel like it's nice to have a pristine traditional original, but it's also good to keep in mind you can always fix things digitally and it's not a hack or a cheat, just a different process. I found it super freeing as well. I sometimes observe that my approach to traditional inking is totally different in terms of technique too O: more slow and steady, and more precise and mechanical (in a good way haha), whereas in digital inking I make a lot of quick swoopy lines that are more chaotically energetic, but often require a redo x'D

Such a gorgeous design. I really want to learn how to use inks, so this was certainly motivating me to start! Would you say they work a little like watercolours?
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
very similar to watercolour! There are differences obviously, but I think it really depends on what kind of watercolours you use. You should definitely give coloured inks a try :)

Thanks so much! Ahh glad you get the mindfullness aspect of it xD I often feel super chaotic on a day to day basis with planning and all other aspects of work, but actual painting or drawing is the only time when I can just relax and not feel pressured. I wish i did that more often lol >_>

Since I discovered you channel, I'm completely addicted to you work ;) I was working as a 2D animator and traditional background painter, then, I moved to 3D animation. I still continue to draw for the pleasure of it. But now, I really want to get back in drawing and painting in my spare time. I started a sketchbook, and I intend to buy what is needed to color some of them, just by seeing you. Thanks for all your work, your post, and the inspiration.

i love this kind of illustrations! so so beautiful! i wonder how you mixed the dusty rose colour. do you have a very light pink in your palette? i find pinks are very difficult to achieve, when you don't have one as an actual colour.
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Hmm i don't remember how I mixed it exactly, but I typically make a rich colour first by mixing a few paints or inks, and then add a TON of water to achieve the light tone. Idk if that's too obvious for info haha, but hope it helps anyway :))

@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I make sure not to adjust any settings on the scanner, the images are best for editing in their raw form. I fiddle around a lot with levels in photoshop, which typically takes care of everything. Hope that helps!

All that for a drawing you can just .... draw ? Your process is way to long you don't need the digital and light-box steps you are not a beginner just do a pencil sketch and ink over it .
@CosmicSpectrumArt3 жыл бұрын
Lol what makes you think light-boxes are for beginners? Professionals use them all the time. There are MANY reasons to use a light box. For me the top 3 are size, placement, and paper texture. As you can see the placement is very intentional for every object on this sheet. It's hard to get it right from the first sketch, and erasing damages the paper texture. Using the light box ensures a very clean sketch to work with. Furthermore, there are a bunch of symmetrical designs on this sheet, for which I utilized the mirror tool in photoshop. Literally cuts the sketching time in half. My process is exactly as long as it needs to be :P
@samankucher51173 жыл бұрын
@@CosmicSpectrumArt So you draw the same thing 4 time to get a 1 drawing.... ok Maybe you have a lot of time at hand I was under the impression that pro artist don't have a lot of time at hand because of all the work that needs to be done. :> anyway good luck my bro.
