Vintage Run 2016 / EPIC CRASH!

6th annual vintage run. old snowmobile gathering and ride in Singhampton, Ontario 2016. im riding my 1971 Skiroule RT500 with original sachs 440 engine. managed to loose one ski, bolt it back on and then break the other side off and still ride it all the way back!

THIS is what started it all...riding the countryside around fields. No groomed trail. One piece skidoo suits . And every rider smelled like gas. Dish soap bottles made excellent primer bottles ; MiR and Ivory were top choices. Also the smiles were wide and everyone had fun.

Haha 11:50 crash to end all crashes! Lol In about 2004 I resurrected the same sled!! A 1970 RT-500 with the Coleman sticker on it. That was a one model year I believe and right when Coleman bought out Ski-Roule. Mine had one side with two seized rings so I ran just the two top rings from the good piston. Cleaned it all up, new crank seals and that thing gave me ab exercises for a couple winters from all the laughter riding it! Then I sold it and buddy lost it off the trailer and wrecked the body so he took the motor and put it in an old SkiDoo Rv chassis and had to give the hood a lift kit to make it fit! Lol He rode it like that for a couple winters then the engine finally broke a piston skirt from all the rocking and rolling in there with only the one ring. Lol We called it the "Ski-Don't"...

We have a pretty good group of vintage snowmobile groups in MN and when they have a run I like to go there just to see the old sleds running and doing what they do second best, obviously breaking down is their first attribute! I like the speeds these guy ride, my last sled was a ZRT 800 Arctic Cat with a header, carbs work and clutch work and I think on a normal day the average speed was 60 mph un up to 100 mph you have no time to ENJOY the ride!

I attended one two years back and one coil on the 74 TX 340 failed. I was only about the twelfth or fifteenth person from the front. When I came to a halt, so did maybe seventy five others behind me. I had to wave for everyone to continue, maybe three guys stayed behind with me til I got fired up again and made the run at half power.

when i were younger i could not afford a helmet and believe it or not it was my legs that needed the protection for all the times my foot would slip off and get twisted . the only reason why i even bothered to wear a helmet once i got older was due to the fact that it kept my face and head warm .

I had a 71 ski roule 250 with the Sachs 440 in the 90's cops clocked me at 75 mph on the road. could've gone faster but they steer like shut and I couldn't keep it under control

i use to follow that close to others and two times i got my lesson . first time a guy caught a log under the snow and the back of his sled got damaged pretty bad and also the front of mine when i crashed into the back of his sled . another time a rail caught the track of the person in front of me a same thing , lots of damages , just lucky no one got hurt . :))

when i think back i could have bought anyone of those for practicaly nothing back in the 70s but my parents had enough of my toys in their yard boat, musle car, later in 1983 bought a mint 1980 srx 440

back in the day i bought many many old sleds and like a fool i drove them till they were wrecked . and then when we got the crushers in most of them were crushed . some that were still repairable were sold to an auto wrecker for basically peanuts . made way to many poor choices . :((

Its all on purpose! The sled kept fouling plugs with constant throttle. Loved the constant mashing haha, i don’t know why some see it as a negative or annoying thing 🤣

Apparently there is something wrong with the throttle on that Skiroule. That or the driver has a thumb problem. That's a great way to promote premature belt failure/clutch failure. SMOOTH throttle application gives long belt life and better overall performance. smh UPDATE: I just read that there was a mechanical reason for the throttle play.

It's called throttle control sensor you have none one steady position on the throttle not on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off over and over over and over over and over over and over
