Sea Voice is a nice item, It reminds me of one of my instructors that was carrying a dish washing type glove in his bcd pocket and would inflate it like the Sea Voice in order to talk to us. Weird look but it did work and made us laugh...underwater !

I use J valves all the time still today. Lol. Just don't have the rod now. I've used the Demoon valves few times.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter4 жыл бұрын
You can buy J rods online or at vintage scuba stores. They are fun to use even today.

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter lol I thought about getting a rod made but I have a pressure gauge on my rig now and the tank I have left is out of hydro, and from what I am hearing most five shops on the east coast of the USA are not passing these tanks made before 1998...+/- not sure the exact year they cut them off.. But if I have any luck and get it hydro'ed I definitely getting a rod for it. I even got a matching back pack with, lol.

so I have and use a rubber belt (the buckle itself has a spring as well so double stretchy which is redundant) and I also have exactly the same buckle+rubber as they yellow one you show (which I haven't use yet but thinking of trying as you only need to size it once) - bought both from an old diver. Nice thing about rubber belt is I can slide it underwater to sit on my hips after I gear up on my kayak... they don't ever slide.

Right Alain. They were great. I just found them from Trident Diving. Look it up. Alec

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter The only weight belt I (and now my son) use is a rubber weight belt, with that exact bail buckle. They work great. I use them for both cold and warm water diving. Not "weird" at all. Very, very sensible.

I read a kids book that involved SCUBA diving and they had the Sea Voice (or similar device) to talk under water. Of course I cannot think of the book name right now.

It's pretty neat. In practice it's not very practical. A good slate works better for pennies but that assumes your buddy is close by and watching. One of the nicest things about scuba diving is that you cannot hear other people talking. If my wife decided we should have a set of Sea Voice, I'd probably poke a hole in hers! Take care Chris. Alec

9:35 Rubber weight belt is a great idea because of people like me. I learned from a girl on KZbin that I suffer from culo carpeta. Translation, "He with ass as flat as a folder". Culo carpeta doesn't allow weight belts to remain as belts, they become weight socks.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter2 жыл бұрын
Something you a Kevin have, no back ledge to hold up a weight belt. They still have rubber belts today. A.

We use rubber weight belts for freediving.

I did free diving once, my weight belt slipped off. But seriously, rubber belts are a great benefit to some divers. A

Tech Tip: why we mount the 1st stage that way? Why don't we mount the other way and avoid bumping our head in it?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
Not a bad suggestion. The hoses might have to be made longer. I think it's just convention - the way it's been done. Why don't you try it?

Do you still do scuba diving, Alec?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter6 жыл бұрын
Yes!! What's your problem? First you call me a bad ass and then you ask if I still scuba dive! ALL bad asses scuba dive!! I get diving 2 or 3 times a year. I don't do cold much any more. After 60 years of scuba diving in Canada, it would have to be pretty special to get me into a 7mm suit. But I was in Florida twice this past year and went diving in Cuba too. Take care. Alec
