My complements of the season to you all there Alec. I hope we can catch up soon. I love this video, it reminds me of days when people thought for themselves 😊

Thanks Peter. We're hoping to go to England this spring or summer. If so, I will surely let you know. Right on your comment. Those days are gone. Now everyone simply believes what they read on the web. It's how the government has dumbed us down to being obedient workers just paying taxes without complaint. No more complaints, no more innovation unless state sponsored and controlled, no more self-reliance, just trust the gov and the police. What a shame. They are the last ones to trust now. You have a great Christmas too. See you in '18. Alec

Great video! I just picked up a Swimaster kelp gun at a thrift store because it looked like something from the 50s to 70s. I love Vintage things. I was wondering if you knew any information on it such as the date of manufacture, I can’t find much online.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter5 жыл бұрын
I don't know that specific gun. There were a lot of so-called Kelp Guns from different manufacturers. In fact, there wasn't much difference between a regular gun and a kelp gun. It was more a marketing thing. I'd love to see a picture of it if you can send me one. Send it to seahunter@vintagescuba.com . Thanks. Alec

Where can I find rubbers and a clip for the aqua king?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter Жыл бұрын
There are several online sites, Google them. Also post your question on www.scubaboard.com as there are lots of vintage spear fishing divers who can help you. A

How much is an Aqua King made by HealthWay speargun cost
@NoTengoIlusiones4 жыл бұрын
Spear fishing is "NOT part of scuba diving". Spear fishing is performed in APNEA. Spear fishing it's a sport by itself. Using air bottle it's forbidden almost everywhere on the planet. (for obvious reasons). Love this old equipment series.

One of the reasons why scuba started to become popular was among the freediving spear hunters. They wanted to stay down and hunt longer for bigger game. Look at other Vintage Scuba videos to see more on the history. Kevin was in Roatan Honduras spearfishing lion fish (37 kills) using scuba and a hawaiian sling spear. The Marine park trained and certified him to spearfish lion fish so it is still very much a part of scuba today.

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter The Deontological ethics (almost everywhere in the world) of Spearfishing it's on Apnea. Everything else it's a predatory "anti-ocean " life. Commercial (net) fishing it's enough to deplete the oceans. Hobby: Scuba divers, Free Divers, Open Water swim and Spear fishers are low impact activities by definition and should be ambassadors of good practices (kind of like surfers). I understand your comment regarding biological control of Lion Fish.But it's well advertised for scuba turists referring that scuba+spear it's normally a big no-no? In Resume if you Scuba you can't morally spear. And thank you again for the channel, very interesting vintage collection.

Love your super clear and instructing videos. Can you make one of how properly remove the boot from console, SPG, compass and so on? I have a Cressi mini pressure gauge and I cannot find a way to remove the boot to service it or to slide a hose protector. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
Good idea. I'll do that. It won't show until mid-late January. Some consoole are very hard to work with. Particularly as they age. I have had many tear and split as I try to open them. Cressi, Old US Divers, some Scubapro, etc. The only way is to soak them in a container with hot water - hot, not warm. It won't hurt the gauge or boot. Then if you put some dish soap on them, you ought to be able to bend the boot back just enough the squeeze the SPG out. Try carefully using a couple of blunt screwdrivers too. At least your boot will be clean. Take care. Alec

I still use a pole spear, great little Australian company called land and sea still makes a few different pole Spears and honestly it's a lot more fun then going and buying a $400-1000 spear gun

When I had my store in the Keys in Florida I used nothing but a 6' pole spear. I was only 22 years old and had no money. Without that spear I would have starved to death. Alec

Ferrule? Collar?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter7 жыл бұрын
Assuming this is question blip, a ferrule is a metal ring or collar around the end of a hose. It's there to keep the hose from expanding and losing its grip on the fitting. Alec
