Vintage Sheffield Buses Early 1970's

Many shots of buses entering and leaving the old Sheffield bus station.
Buses and their numbers/destinations noted are as follows. (I have listed them below in number order, not as they appear in the film)
17 Beauchief, 20 Hemsworth, 32 City, 34 Upwell St/Margate Drive, 38 Morton, 41 Hackenthorpe, 42 Fox Hill, 43 City, 53 Low Edges, 57 Stocksbridge, 65 Sheffield, 71 City/Prince of Wales Rd Circular, 81 Bents Green, 97 Netheredge Hospital, 219 Dinnington, 221 Treeton, 262 Eckington, 500 City Clipper.

2:15 2p bus fairs. Manor top to Sheaf Valley baths.

Hahaha yeah, I used to catch 70 bus going to Manor Top and then down City Road and through Norfolk Park. I used to sit on top at the front on my own because of the good views from Manor Top across Sheffield and to the moors. Used to make the journey to my friends house every weekend on my own since age 11. I never felt unsafe, not once. Used to go to town and catch 95 bus then to my friends house. 4p just for 2 buses across town. Good times

Pond Street bus stn when it used to be very busy, it’s deathly quiet these days, has been going down hill for yrs.

I remember sitting with my mum waiting for the Rotherham bus around 1970 when I was 7. The hustle and bustle terrified me, it was so busy then.

Sheffield had a great bus service until Maggie and the Conservatives destroyed it. The buses in the video are better than the ones in use today.
